The Sarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force has arrived at El Alamein, Egypt. The team will participate in the 2nd edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, scheduled from 08 to 10 September 2026.

Flying the indigenously designed and manufactured ALH Dhruv, Sarang will showcase precision, synchronisation and flying skills. The world’s only helicopter aerobatic display team, Sarang will enthral audiences with its signature aerial displays.

Prior to this, he was Director General (Aircraft) at Air Headquarters.

He succeeds Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia who superannuated on 31 Aug 2026 after rendering 39 years of distinguished service.

➡️In a historic milestone for the Indian Air Force Air Vice Marshal Shakti Sharma became the first woman officer (non-medical) in the Indian Defence Forces to attain the rank of Air Vice Marshal (or equivalent). On 01 September 2026, she assumed the appointment of Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Education) at Air Headquarters.

➡️Commissioned into the Education Branch of the IAF on 18 June 1994, AVM Shakti Sharma brings a wealth of experience to her new role, spanning diverse postings across Training Establishments, Field Stations, Command Headquarters, and Air Headquarters. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded key institutional initiatives, including establishing the IAF Chairs of Excellence at IlT Kanpur and Pune University to drive academic and strategic defense collaboration.

➡️She also created history as the first woman officer from the Tri-Services to command a Sainik School, serving as Principal of Sainik School, Kapurthala.

➡️This landmark achievemenț marks a new chapter in the journey of women officers in the Indian Defence Forces. With over three decades of distinguished service, she continues to inspire generations to “Touch the Sky with Glory”.

As the future Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS William Charette (DDG 130) is christened today, the ship carries forward the name of Hospital Corpsman William Charette, whose extraordinary courage and selfless devotion to others earned him the Medal of Honor on January 12, 1954.
His legacy lives on through every hospital corpsman who continues the mission of caring for Sailors and Marines around the world.

Charette earned the Medal of Honor after shielding a wounded Marine from a grenade and continuing to treat fellow Marines under enemy fire during the Korean War
