Fans have flooded PlayStation’s YouTube and social media posts with demands not to abandon physical media.
No matter what Sony uploads, game trailers, PS Plus videos, or hardware announcements they are getting spammed with the same message: “Keep physical games.”
The campaign has spread so widely that almost every new PlayStation video is now filled with comments about physical games instead of the actual content.
PlayStation is reportedly making various studios furious as they pay them thousands of dollars to feature their games on social media, only for the posts to get flooded with angry comments and community notes over Sony’s plan to end physical game media by January 2028🚀
This may possibly derail promotional campaigns for other games, including GTA6
Don’t give up!
Keep up the pressure!

According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, some third-party game studios are paying Sony thousands of dollars to feature their games on PlayStation’s official social media at specific times.
The report says some developers are frustrated because those paid posts are flooded with negative comments and community notes from players mad with PlayStation’s recent decisions
It also says this could become a bigger problem for future marketing campaigns, with GTA 6 mentioned as one example if the backlash continues.
Good job guys if this is true, complaining works
@OatmealDome Based on what I can see, it looks like the trigger spring might be altered to be less prone to fly away. (That was a problem I encountered a few times while working on them.)
The shell also looks like it might be reinforced and slightly redesigned to make it easier to pry open.
@oKazaryo Wi-Fi connectivity seems really great on Switch 2. I’d estimate that it gets ~4-5x higher speeds on my network and I haven’t seen any dropouts. Local communication is pretty bad though. GameShare and LAN play frequently have high latency, static, stutters, and disconnections.
@oKazaryo I also have over 900 hours on Splatoon 3. From my experience, I only get the penalty if someone that I was in the lobby with disconnects (including “keep going”). The host leaving generally doesn’t penalize me unless the connection flukes and kicks me from the match first.
@oKazaryo The Nintendo Switch has poor wireless performance.
I know this wasn’t a call for troubleshooting, but I’d recommend minimizing obstructions or vibrations & use Ethernet if possible.
If it’s any consolation, I don’t think I’ve had any Splatoon connection issues on Switch 2.
Movies still come on Blu-ray, music is still pressed on vinyl and books still fill store shelves. But as Sony moves to phase out physical PlayStation releases, many gamers are asking why video games should be the first major entertainment medium to go all digital. https://t.co/FagoUG3JVU
This isn’t just about PlayStation or Sony, but an effort to stand our ground now to protect physical games/media in the future.
The primary examples I think are only minimally comparable to the restrictions they are imposing are streaming exclusives and Apple’s lockdown efforts.
A Team Speed member just tried to cancel the 10x Battle at the last second when we wiped them as the match concluded, cementing the already certain win.

@KungFuMan316 It was always going to be this way. Cable channels were novel because they let you pick a general theme to watch and you just had to watch what was on. Social media kind of did the same. The appeal of endless, disconnected content has been fading for years.
Reports claim Sony believes it doesn’t need to stay in close contact with PlayStation fans because it trusts the strength of the PlayStation brand and the loyalty of its community.
According to the reports, Sony expects players to keep buying its games as the company moves toward a digital-only future.
They also believe the backlash over ending physical PlayStation game production will eventually stop and most players will eventually adapt to buying games digitally.
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire's physical copies will not require an internet connection to play the game.
If you insert the disc/cartridge into an offline PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch 2, the game will be playable.
If your console is connected to the internet, the latest update will be downloaded, which we recommend in order to install the latest quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and more.
We hope you enjoy your time in Mouseburg 🐭
