FC Bayern x Arsenal. And an absolutely filthy night for it.

Harry Kane is favourite for the Ballon d’Or and would deserve to win it after the season he’s had.

But in Munich there’s little affection for the award, which clashes with German football culture.

Joshua Kimmich is a doubt for tonight. He missed training yesterday to tend to a private matter and there’s no certainty that he’ll feature against Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag knows what it is like to be in the eye of the storm at Manchester United.

@LaurieWhitwell spent two evenings with the Dutchman in his hometown of Enschede, in the east of the Netherlands, to peel back the curtain on his two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.

In part one, Ten Hag talks about:

▪️ The broken “promises” that led to his sacking
▪️ Why he had to act on Cristiano Ronaldo, a player who “let the team down”
▪️ His desire to sign Harry Kane and Declan Rice
▪️ The “toxic culture” and the "Madrid connection" that brought player power to the club

@RyanHeatly You too big man

The emotional toil of coming back from an injury as serious as Dejan Kulusevski’s has to be relentless. It’s worth dwelling upon just how difficult it would be for an entire family, too, who will have walked that road with him.

How wonderful to see him back.

@Prabhu10Nandan Just keep going. It’s all practice.

Before the football begins, some other writing, about death and Tottenham and phone calls from the police.

More fun than it sounds.

@YJaisingh Didn’t do much. Came on late, didn’t have much of it

[Art de Roché @ArtdeRoche]

Took a while, but Arsenal get their 18th win by a one-goal margin since the start of last season (most in Europe’s top five leagues)

Thoughts on that and another slow first half, with @SebSB on Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze on the left wing

First hit on today's draw with @SebSB and @reallycerys. Big improvement after the break and the wing-backs continue to be key, but hard to look past overall disappointment. #lufc https://t.co/FVDlzxnVor

Initial thoughts from Elland Road - inc on the Fernandes-led front three, Baleba's first PL start, and Martinez's strong half after an already busy week.
