1/ I’m an airline pilot.
There are ~1,000 of us at my company — which means I fly with the same colleague maybe once every two years. Just often enough to completely forget everything about them.
I’m an airline captain. I’d never shipped an app before March.
Today I launched TWO on the App Store — both built with @rork between flights.
Remembr: remembers the people you meet.
Passta: cook it all, waste nothing.
No team or code background. Just @rork and stubbornness. ✈️
Day 14 of building in public with 0 audience:
My posts get ~0 impressions. My replies get seen by thousands.
Lesson nobody tells you: on X you don’t build an audience by posting. You build it by showing up in other people’s comments until they wonder who you are. #buildinpublic
@kylegawley Living this exact lesson right now. Spent months heads-down building my first app — felt productive, fully in control. Now in the “talk to people / market / sell” phase and it’s genuinely harder than the code ever was. Nobody warns you the build is the comfortable part.
First post here 👋
Airline pilot, just built my first app — Remembr, it remembers the people you meet so you don’t blank next time.
Building was the easy part. Zero audience.
Those ahead of me: what got you your first 100 users?
Nobody tells you this part:
Starting on X with 0 followers means your posts go to nobody. I’ve posted several times — crickets.
Lesson: on X, posting is shouting into the void. Replying is how you actually get in the room.
Pivoting my whole approach. Let’s see if it works.
The feature I almost cut is the one I now use most.
A “prep me before I see this person” button. It pulls back everything I’d saved — what we talked about, what they’re working on, what to follow up on.
Turns out the boring feature was the whole point.
#buildinpublic
In aviation, “launch when it’s ready” doesn’t exist — you don’t ship a 90%-safe plane.
Building my first app, that instinct nearly killed it. I kept polishing instead of shipping.
Cockpit and startup need opposite reflexes. #buildinpublic
@buildinpublic Launching Remembr — an app that remembers the people you meet, not just their number. I’m an airline pilot with zero audience figuring out marketing in public, so this week is all distribution, not code 😅
@Sarakhan49309 Hi👋 I‘m building an IOS App for remembering the people you meet. You can add by voice or text any context. And AI helps you to search your database ➡️ https://t.co/iMxvrTdeUX
What are you building?
I’m an airline pilot with zero audience, building my first app in public.
Week 1: a handful of waitlist signups, my first real comments, and the terrifying realization that building was the easy part.
Marketing is the actual final boss.
How did you get your first users?
@Ikenna_Davidd Clean execution. And honestly the “without unnecessary complexity” part is the hardest one to actually pull off — staying simple while you keep adding features was the toughest fight building my own app. Curious how you’ll hold that line on the home screen as the tracking grows?
My phone gave me a name and a number.
This is what I actually wanted 👇
Now, before I meet anyone, I just ask Remembr to prep me — and walk in actually remembering them.
Not the name. The person.

5/ After months of nights and layovers, it’s finally ready — Remembr launches soon as an iOS app.
If you also meet more people than your brain can hold, grab early access. Founding members get 50% off if they download by Aug 31 👇
