Millions of 3-year-old laptops get blamed for being "slow" when the hardware is barely the problem — it's almost always what's silently running underneath.

A student was about to spend $900 on a brand new laptop because hers took 4 minutes to boot and constantly froze mid-assignment, right when deadlines mattered most.

Her older brother, who builds PCs on the side and has fixed dozens of laptops for friends, sat down with her laptop for 8 minutes on a Sunday afternoon.

He didn't reinstall Windows.
Didn't add RAM.
Didn't recommend an SSD upgrade.
Didn't suggest buying anything at all.

He changed 8 settings.

Boot time dropped from 4 minutes to 20 seconds. Chrome stopped eating 90% of her CPU in the background. Word stopped freezing mid-sentence while she typed.

Same laptop. Same specs. Same age. Same everything.

"Your laptop was never actually slow. It was just never cleaned up past the day you bought it — and nobody, not the store, not Microsoft, not tech support, was ever going to tell you the fix was free."

🧵 Here are the 8 settings he changed:

Trump: "Only I can make this promise to you: If the Republicans win the House and Senate, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000"

A key point missing in a lot of post debate analysis is that Trump’s claim about immigrants eating pets almost perfectly syncs up to the piano in the Peanuts theme song.

THIS WAS ON A FRIEND’S PAGE: An anguished question from a Trump supporter: ‘Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?’

THE SERIOUS ANSWER: Here’s what the majority of anti-Trump voters honestly feel about Trump supporters en masse:

Ok, since no one seems to know any of the history of Afghanistan before this week, a refresher:
2/29/20: There are 13,000 US troops there. Trump reaches deal with Taliban. Agrees Afghanistan Gov, which is not part of deal, will release 5,000 Taliban fighters. Requires Taliban...1

@BiekeLaw @smilingCatassin @DonaldJTrumpJr I dont think I suggested that he trafficked anyone. Simply that he could travel anywhere he chose too and his name wouldn't appear in any flight logs if he had been to epstein Island.

[Neil @Sebaston]

@BiekeLaw @smilingCatassin @DonaldJTrumpJr Worth noting that Donald had his own plane. Even if his name is absent from these "flight logs", it is proof of nothing.

@StephsMundo @AriBerman You should prepare yourself for disappointment.

Why is the Trump White House suddenly a very polite place to work? Everyone’s going around saying “pardon me.”
