While we use more modern methods of approximations through Taylor series expansion and Secant methods, Archimedes had to approximate geometrically to solve for the area of a circle! These approximations also solved pi down to 22/7 during his time! #math4410
One way to think of approximations is to imagine you're sculpting a statue. Bisection method is like us sculpting with an axe, Chord method gets us closer to a sword, and Newton's method is our tedious scalpel with very precise approximations #math4410
Working with secant method is very interesting, but applying it to parametric equations is definitely alot for an Excel spreadsheet to have to balance #math4410
