Solidarity with the nearly 100 security officers locked out at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, formerly Casino Woodbine.
These members, who work hard to keep things running safely, deserve a fair deal that keeps pace with the cost of living.
Sean's Team here.
To end 2024 and Sean’s time as a Cabinet Minister on a high note, we found out today that he was voted:
Most Valuable Politician, Best Cabinet Minister, and Up & Comer in an annual survey by The Hill Times.
Sean - working alongside you has been a tremendous honour.
Thank you for your service to Canada, for being a gracious mentor and role model, and for all of the laughs along the way.
To take your advice, we will continue to focus on the problems we want to solve and the people we want to help, and not the titles we want to hold.
Here’s to hoping we get to work together again someday.
Pierre announced yesterday he would cut billions for housing that communities are depending upon.
He must not be aware his MPs have been writing me for months to ask that their communities receive funding because they know it is helping build more homes!
Home ownership shouldn't be a pipe dream.
You shouldn't have to take another job just to make your rent.
No Canadian should go to bed without a roof over their head.
Over the last year, we've been working to solve this crisis.
Here's a recap of some of that work:
People don’t want politicians to pick fights with one another, they want us to work together to solve problems.
We’re at the table and want to work with the Provinces to help solve some of the biggest challenges facing the nation, so we can help make Canada the very best country it can be.
We’re asking cities to make it easier to build homes, and we want to help.
We’ve put cash on the table to help fix roads, build transit systems, and to make sure neighbourhoods have access to water so communities can create the conditions for homebuilding.
Thanks to @FCM_online for the chance to connect with local leaders across Canada, and to NS’s own @MikeSavageHFX for his time as Chair!
Meet Adam.
He’s pretty well known for his Olympic gold medal, but he also knows first hand how amazing co-ops are.
Check out how we're going to build a whole new generation of co-ops in Canada.
And follow @vankayak while you’re at it!
Applications open on July 15th!
This is a good Housing Plan. It fills gaps in the National Housing Strategy, and responds to priorities and solutions put forward by @CHRA_ACHRU https://t.co/GXYg1lecQA
Canada has a choice.
Do we want to talk about the housing crisis, or do we want to solve it?
As for where the federal government stands: It's time to build.
.@SeanFraserMP, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities makes big housing announcement at #CanadaGrowth Summit. Tomorrow, he says, “we’re actually going to be releasing our plan to solve the housing crisis in Canada.”
Fraser says: “It's going to involve a series of measures that are going to do some of the things we've talked about when it comes to reducing the cost of homebuilding.”
“We've already removed the GST — there will be more measures that make it more cost effective for builders. We're going to include some of the measures we've recently announced to help cities change the way they build homes…there's going to be support we've mentioned for home building factories, additional measures to help with the affordable housing stock in this country, and to help communities who are wrestling with challenges around homelessness.”
“And we're also going to have additional measures, including some that will be shared later today, designed to make it easier for people to get into the housing market for the first time.”
