Another team leaves the Riot ecosystem.
When I played in the Italian League, three organizations with good will, resources, budget, and love for the game @mackoesports , @DsyreEsports , and @EsportAtleta also left it. The main reason was that there was no offseason tournament, so there wasn’t a single official tournament game played for five months.
Lately I saw @geekay_esports leaving as well, and you can probably name many more examples.
League of Legends is one of the biggest esports games in the world. Competition should thrive, but in this system it is being suppressed. Very often, great organizations are forced to leave, questionable organizations are getting in, and who are the biggest victims? Pro players, coaches, managers and fans.
What is the reason? The monopoly over tournaments, the franchise system, and the regional leagues system. Riot Games is in charge of it all, and they are not doing the best job, so the situation just keeps getting worse.
How could Riot Games fix this? I have an idea. They could create an ecosystem where competition thrives, where tournament organizers compete to make better tournaments with better prize pools, organizations compete to build better staff and rosters, teams compete to be better, players compete individually, and everyone competes in social media, marketing skills, and fan engagement.
Riot could give a free hand to tournament organizers. Let players play in a few different tournaments and leagues at the same time. Let them choose which ones they want to play and which ones work best with their schedule.
How can Riot implement this in the current state?
Decide which regional leagues are doing well and let them continue. But probably around half of the regional leagues that struggle with their esport organizations and with viewership, should be restructured. Use the budget that was used to maintain them for regional tournaments with open qualifiers and prize pools. Create international tournaments where organizations outside the Major Leagues can qualify for EMEA Masters.
Let’s think about the three teams I mentioned earlier in the Italian League Dsyre, Macko, Atleta. They all loved to compete against each other. In this proposed ecosystem, they could compete in their own region, then also compete internationally for a spot in EMEA Masters, and also compete in multiple tournaments organized by different tournament organizers, all without long breaks (well… if they hadn’t left the Riot ecosystem).
With all of that, Riot Games would benefit a lot, because many more people would get involved, which in the end would result in a bigger player base.
What do You think?

LFT summer split, won polish league with Forsaken and we qualified to emea main stage, looking for any tryouts as long as the roster/project is promising
I am exploring new opportunities for the rest of the year. While my primary focus is on General or Team Management roles, I am also open to discussing Coaching positions.
I bring experience in roster building, team leadership, and professional scouting.

- No more “do or die” offseasons for players
Cons of this:
- Some lazy, greedy, selfish people are going to have a harder time and might lose their spot

"The rise of the third-party ecosystem has actually been really interesting"

- More competition, higher stakes such as bigger prize pools, qualification to leagues and tournaments
- A harder time for people who got their spot due to connections, LTRs, or long contracts. What will matter more is how good you are and how much you bring to the team

It’s been month and a half since I decided to step away from my career as a professional League of Legends player, and in that time I’ve already came up with a new business idea and built solid foundations for it. I’m also about to become a co-owner of an optics firm and helped a local business with their marketing. If someone close to me wanted to get involved, they could help and benefit from it.
I’m not planning to spend the profit on a luxurious lifestyle. Instead, I want to keep grinding, reinvest in my businesses, and work toward my bigger goal: To help and save as many people as possible who are still among us and have suffered injustice.
One way I can do that is by getting people to read or listen to my article and draw conclusions from it. So soon I’ll need to promote it. Maybe I could pay someone with some online presence to talk about it on their social media/podcasts? Or maybe there’s an even better idea out there?
Or, if you’d like, you can read it, like it, share it, comment on it, pin it, talk about it and help me spread the message. I’d truly appreciate it. It’s a long read, but trust me: it’s worth it. Being open to different points of view is always a good thing.
Polish version of the article is pinned on my profile. English version is posted 16th of November.
Never give up! Cheers! Merry Christmas!
@IvikusLoL Thank you so much! I'm doing all of that to also help League of Legends scene, it's sad to see so many good players/coaches still posting LFT posts so late in december. This envoirment could be growing and instead it is dying.
