Mashale Tells Ad Hoc Committee Hitman Wanted to Expose Kingpins Who Ordered Sindiso Magaqa Murder but Was Blocked

Patricia Mashale told an ad hoc committee that her involvement in sharing SAPS news on social media stemmed from the murder of ANC councillor Sindiso Magaqa, a case she said was close to her heart. She explained that information she shared publicly related solely to the Magaqa killing and efforts to assist the hitman who wanted to confess.

Mashale said the hitman who shot Magaqa contacted her seeking help to plead guilty and make a full confession. She told the committee he claimed he had been trying since 2019 to plead guilty but was receiving no assistance from the investigating officer or the prosecutor handling the case.

She said she contacted Cedric Nkabinde and Honorable Fadiel Adams, who travelled to a prison in KwaZulu-Natal to obtain a statement from the hitman. Mashale said the hitman reported threats to his life and an attempted poisoning, prompting donations to secure a new lawyer.

Mashale said the hitman later told her that his new lawyer refused to allow him to name those who ordered the murder in court. She claimed the lawyer was threatened and backed down. Mashale said she has WhatsApp messages and evidence on her phone, which she offered to hand over.
