It’s no fault of the airlines but mainly of CAAP that seems inefficient and lacking anticipation and foresight, which should be the inherent character, as expected, of an agency like CAAP.
Gov’t officials in-charge of critical systems and procedures for the public’s convenience need to be anticipatory and forward-looking so that failures, like yesterday’s fiasco of the air traffic control system can be avoided. This doesn’t happen in our major ASEAN neighbors.
PBBM is lucky. He’s getting much help and advice from my UP Economics colleagues. But he seems to have made a few hasty, ill-advised appointments, and continues to vacillate on the heads for critical departments DOH and DA.
Cont’d: All three are important — social and physical infrastructure support human (people) development. But while physical and, to some extent, social infrastructure are amenable to public-private partnership (PPP), human development is not profitable for private investors.
Human development, social and physical infrastructure. Of the three, human (people) development is top priority, followed by social infrastructure (hospitals, schools), and then physical infrastructure (roads, railways, airports). The gov’t budget should be hewed in that order.
Substantial investments are badly needed in Human infrastructure (or Human development); Social infrastructure (good school buildings, hospitals in the provinces, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Virology); and Physical infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.)
Achieving single-digit poverty rate by 2028 is a tall order with population increase unmanaged, growing yearly at 1.63% (the fastest in ASEAN) — implying that by 2028 there’ll be 9 million more Filipinos nearly half of them poor. Total population then would be 120 million.
The 12th PH President Fidel V. Ramos was the real exemplar in most senses of a national leader our country sorely needs. Too bad his official term was transitory. RIP, FVR. Adios, Sr!
Let the sacrifices of Lent lead to the Glory of Easter Sunday and, in turn, usher us all to a glorious May 9 with a truly upright, honest, competent, foresightful, and patriotic Leader for the country’s good!🙏
The quote from our greatest hero, Jose Rizal, is a very vivid and poignant reminder for us all in the upcoming elections. Let’s heed him for our country and everybody’s good!
As we move closer to the May 9 elections let’s hope and pray we voters all become better enlightened and judicious regarding our choices among the candidates, national and local.
In the upcoming May elections, it’s crucial the elected president, besides being competent, upright and patriotic, is cognizant and appreciative of the critical importance of S&T and Innovation for our county’s advancement. Otherwise, we’ll continue to lag behind ASEAN neighbors.
In fact, because it’s a Public Good, gov’t can and should mandate vaccination. It’s not a matter of personal choice (“human right”) as the unvaccinated can inflict harm/injury on others.
