the thing nobody tells you about peace is that it looks boring from the outside. your grandfathers didn't want to storm beaches they wanted to come home and drink tea and do spreadsheets. that was literally the dream they were fighting for. the version of life you're describing as meaningless is the exact thing they would have given anything to have. meaning doesn't require a war it just requires you to notice what you already built. the guy who makes his kid laugh at breakfast is doing something that matters. the woman who remembers her friend's coffee order is doing something that matters. we've been sold this lie that significance requires scale when really it just requires presence
Turn 36 today & I’ve spent my entire thirties with #LongCovid. When I turned 30 I was biking to work 10 miles a day, & since my mild covid infection — I struggle to walk more than a block or work more than a few hours a week.
Here’s 4 things I wish everyone knew:
@1goodtern I had brucellosis from accidentally drinking infected, unpasteurised milk when I lived in South Sudan.
I can confidently state that no one wants this illness.
I decided to share my story about living with #LongCovid to help people understand how debilitating this disease is.
But my story is just one of many.
Long Covid is having a devastating impact on millions of people around the world.
It's time for governments to act.
@Aella_Girl Look up Post Exertional Malaise (PEM). It can be common as part of post viral symptoms. And there are a LOT of viruses circulating at the moment.
Yesterday #LongCovid cost me my job.
20 years working as a Learning Disability Nurse for the #NHS.
My livelihood gone, my role in life gone, my ability to help others gone.
Long Covid ruins lives.
