The celebration for our country’s 250th birthday is a huge security undertaking. This celebration would not be possible without our Federal and local partners. THANK YOU.
Our Operational Medicine Division was on the frontline yesterday providing medical support during the record-breaking heat and storms, ensuring attendees were able to celebrate 250 years of our great Nation.
161 years ago, our agency was forged by a determined group dedicated to protecting the Nation’s currency. Since then, our mission has expanded, and today, the Secret Service stands as one of the world’s most formidable law enforcement agencies. Time and again, we have met every challenge—not by luck, but through the resolute strength and grit of those who step forward, fully aware of the demands and sacrifices this duty requires.
We honor our legacy and charge ahead with purpose.
The Secret Service screening area will reopen shortly. Everyone who evacuated the site will go through screening again. The Secret Service is working to make screening as smooth as possible. Our bag restriction and prohibited items list remains the same. For programming information, continue to monitor @Freedom250.
America, it's time to celebrate!
At President Donald J. Trump's direction, gates to the National Mall will reopen at 9:45 PM. The Salute to America celebration will move forward, the President will deliver remarks at 11:00 PM, and the fireworks spectacular will follow.
Rain or shine, the American people deserve a celebration worthy of our nation's historic 250th birthday.
For 250 years, Americans have overcome every challenge with grit, resilience, and determination. A little rain will never diminish our pride, our patriotism, or our celebration of the greatest nation in the history of the world.

The U.S. Secret Service temporarily suspended checkpoint operations on the National Mall due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions. Attendees already within the secure area are being directed to designated shelter locations by Secret Service personnel, U.S. Park Police and event staff.
No one is being admitted at this time. This action was taken solely in the interest of public safety, and we have no estimate for when screening may resume.

🚨 CHECKPOINTS CLOSED — SEEK SHELTER: Security screening on the National Mall has been suspended due to dangerous storms. If you are already on the grounds, follow directions from officers and event staff and move to shelter immediately. Do not shelter under trees. 🚨
The Secret Service dogs are on duty today securing our Nation's 250th Independence Day. Their noses are busy making sure everyone stays safe.

One agency. One mission. One badge.
The Secret Service Director Sean Curran introduced a new badge that unites our Special Agents and Police Officers under a single, distinct design.
On June 22, Director Curran presented this newly design badge to Secret Service Police Chief Richard Macauley and 30 Secret Service Police Officers.
