CASE UPDATE from @FBISacramento: Takedown of “Operation Klean Strip” Dismantles Two Methamphetamine Conversion Labs; Nine Arrested, Three Indicted

This week, #FBI Sacramento and our law enforcement partners announced the results of Operation Klean Strip, a multi‑agency investigation that dismantled two large‑scale clandestine methamphetamine conversion laboratories in Bakersfield and Visalia. The operation began in November 2025 and ended Thursday with nine arrests and the execution of 16 search warrants where agents seized 4,000 marijuana plants, $20,000 drug proceeds, and 20 firearms adding to the 2,171 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and hundreds of gallons of methamphetamine seized earlier.

This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, which is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.

#NewsAlert from @FBINorfolk: Today, #FBI Norfolk announced a major development in the investigation into the 1988 disappearance of Richard “Keith” Call and Cassandra Lee Hailey.

Investigators have determined that Alan Wade Wilmer Sr., now identified as responsible for multiple Colonial Parkway homicides, is the perpetrator in the murders of Call and Hailey. This conclusion follows extensive evidence review and multi‑agency coordination.

The FBI Norfolk Field Office remains committed to honoring the victims of the Colonial Parkway cases, not simply by solving them, but by remembering the people at the center of them.

Richard “Keith” Call was more than a missing person. Cassandra Lee Hailey was more than a case file. They were loved. They mattered. And they have not been forgotten.

CASE UPDATE from @FBIKansasCity: Avionics company owner sentenced to prison for thwarting U.S. Customs laws

Cyril Buyanovsky, a Kansas businessman, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for violating U.S. customs laws by selling advanced aviation technology to Russian end users. After Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. government tightened export controls concerning Russia. Buyanovsky and others conspired to continue to purchase, sell, and export sophisticated and controlled avionics equipment to customers in Russia without the required licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

North Korean cyber group “WaterPlum” (aka “Contagious Interview”) is compromising job seekers’ computer networks, harvesting sensitive data, and stealing cryptocurrency. WaterPlum is targeting IT professionals in Japan, the United States, Europe, and beyond.

Posing as prospective employers, these actors go after software developers and IT professionals with fake “dream job” offers. They impersonate legitimate AI, NFT, and cryptocurrency companies and use recruiting platforms to reach victims.

In an update to a case announced yesterday involving a man and woman arrested for allegedly possessing more than 42 kilograms of fentanyl, more than seven kilograms of cocaine, firearms, drug-making materials, and a small alligator, the FBI is releasing photographs and additional details about evidence found following a search, including:

Approximately 42,609.14 grams of fentanyl (M30 pills and powder)

Approximately 1,038.1 grams of heroin

3 vials of bromobenzene

Approximately 6 kilogram “stamps” used to finish the kilograms that were being made in the fentanyl lab in the apartment

Approximately 7,198.7 grams of cocaine

1 AR-15 rifle with ammunition

1 Desert Eagle 50 caliber pistol with ammunition

1 signal radio jammer

1 pistol carbine conversion kit

1 alligator (U.S. Fish & Wildlife took custody)

During the initial search of the apartment, a law enforcement K-9 was utilized to detect potential hidden compartments in the apartment and became disoriented and near collapse due to fentanyl exposure. The K-9's handler administered aid and revived the K-9 first responder.

The investigation is ongoing.
