Sports content from the great state of Michigan. Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, & Wolverines. Brought to you by a Michigan alum and lifelong 313 resident.
The 2026 draft felt like a return to the basics for Brad Holmes and the Lions. Tough, physical players at big positions of need that might just put them back in the Super Bowl race. My full breakdown, complete with thoughts on every pick: https://t.co/Az42Enio2S
Dylan Larkin on carrying the burden of Red Wings’ playoff drought: “It’s never a fun time when you miss the playoffs, but especially in this fashion and being here again.”
“I want to be here to help this team in any way I can to win the Stanley Cup.”
One Michigan 🏈 highlight per day until kickoff.
2023: JJ McCarthy finds Colston Loveland for a 22-yard TD to make it 21-0 in East Lansing. McCarthy finished the game with 4 TD passes as Michigan walloped MSU 49-0!

Dylan Larkin has 5 years left on his contract at a $8.7M AAV and holds a full no-trade clause for the next 2 seasons, then becomes a 10 team trade list. #LGRW https://t.co/KivZbWDVkJ
The biggest variable in a Dylan Larkin trade is the full NTC. If he is simply looking for a fresh start and is open to going almost anywhere, then the Wings could net out a very nice return. If he wants to go somewhere specific, then Yzerman is in a tough spot.
Any trade speculation has to begin with Larkin’s full NTC.
What do the Red Wings do now? Dylan Larkin wants out, it’s not far fetched to think that Alex DeBrincat might follow suit.
How much NHL-ready talent can you bring in? It’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Wings net out positively here in the immediate future. Your captain requesting a trade doesn’t bode well for free agents wanting to come to Detroit either. We may be witnessing the culmination of the failure of the Yzerplan.
Dylan Larkin requesting a trade completely changes the future of the Red Wings. So many moving parts here. He has a full no-trade clause. Where is he willing to go? What can Yzerman recoup in a trade?
Fairly stunned right now.
Unbelievable. Dylan Larkin is from Waterford. He played at Michigan. He should’ve been a Red Wing for life. But you can’t blame him whatsoever for requesting a trade. He wants to win and Steve Yzerman has failed at that.
This drastically changes the offseason outlook. Wow.
93 days until the return of Michigan Football!
2018: Brandon Watson picks off Penn State QB Tommy Stevens and returns it 62 yards for a touchdown to make it 28-0. Michigan blew out the Nittany Lions 42-7! #GoBlue
@totallytigersbb Jobe, Melton, Montero, Olson, and Valdez. On paper, that’s pretty darn good.
They are going to need a couple more reliable arms. Can’t count on Olson to stay healthy and Jobe isn’t a guarantee. Lots of upside with that group though.
Tigers SWEEP the Rays!
That’s the Tigers team everyone wants to see. 25 runs and 10 homers in 3 games in Tampa.
Troy Melton pitched a beauty today.
8 innings
2 ER
4 hits
5 strikeouts
2 walks
He gave up a run in each of the first 2 innings before settling in and retiring the final 17 batters he faced.
Melton’s 3 starts this season:
8 innings, 2 ER
7 innings, 1 ER
5.2 innings, 1 ER
That’s a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 innings. Troy Melton is such a valuable piece of this Tigers team, and will be for years to come.
Dillon Dingler homered again, his 3rd of the series and 14th of the season. Jake Rogers also went deep for his 1st of the season.
A 3/5 day for Gleyber Torres. Kevin McGonigle, Dingler, Riley Greene, and Rogers each notched 2 hits. With Torres and Carpenter back, the lineup is deeper.
Now 25-38, this was exactly the series the Tigers needed. The offense had its best series of the season and the pitching held up its end of the bargain the last 2 games. The Mariners are in Detroit this weekend. The Tigers need to keep this winning streak going if they want to climb back into the race.
A gem from Troy Melton today.
8 innings
2 ER
4 hits
5 strikeouts
2 BB
94 pitches
After giving up a run in the 1st and 2nd , Melton settled in and dominated. He retired 17 in a row to end the outing.
Melton’s 3 starts so far:
8 IP, 2 ER
7 IP, 1 ER
5.2 IP, 1 ER
STUD
Dillon Dingler is on fire. 3 HRs in the series. The Tigers offense as a whole has been hot. Certainly nice to have Gleyber Torres & Kerry Carpenter back.
Shoutout Troy Melton. Rocky first 2 innings, but has settled in nicely through 6 IP & 74 pitches. Should be back for the 7th.
It’s a tough position for Trajan Langdon and the Pistons. Duren is still young and has room to grow across the board. He was All-NBA for a reason. In the playoffs, however, he was getting benched for Paul Reed. How do you weigh that going forward? It looks like the front office believes in the regular season version of Duren over the postseason iteration.
$44 million per year for Jalen Duren is quite the price tag. On one hand, he’s only 22 and coming off of a regular season where he averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 boards. On the other side, his playoff performance was so bad that nobody will have confidence in him until/if he plays like a star in the postseason going forward. There is real risk in giving Duren this much money.
REPORT: The Pistons and Jalen Duren are expected to discuss a contract worth up to $220 million over five years, per @HunterPatterson.
