Our council member Dr Antony Lempert writes for charity @15__Square on the latest tragic death of an infant following ritual circumcision - and the calls for urgent legal reform.

May also saw us join calls for legal reform around ritual circumcision after a second man was prosecuted for severe harm to children.

Two convicted men this year is a positive small step towards protecting children from unjustifiable, unrestrained religious privilege.

We’re quoted in Sunday @Telegraph on two Islamic charities which hosted misogynistic messages. It’s outrageous that a charity has promoted the idea that it’s ok to hit a woman who refuses sex. @DominicPenna

Just spoke to @Matthew_Wright on LBC about the TV debate last night.
Polling consistently shows @TheGreenParty policies are most liked of all - people just don't hear from us enough.
Amazing to see the response when a diversity of voices was actually given chance to debate!
@drquinngyn @NewYorkGuy6 Hello Dr Quinn, UK MD here: You seem to believe that children’s bodies are parents’ property rather than responsibility. What are your ethical limits on parental choice? Evidently not non-consenting genital modification affecting lifelong sexual experience
No child should be subjected to the forced surgical removal of any part of their genitalia for non-medical reasons. Why is this such a difficult proposition?

❝Religion should not be a roadblock to child safeguarding in healthcare. Circumcision is painful, perilous and permanent. It raises serious ethical questions.❞

@NatSecSoc@Seculant
Both @gmcuk & @TheBMA claim to have no policy re: cutting boys’ normal genitals when religious parents call for it. Truth is, it is only by asserting this, that they actively exclude boys from child safeguarding and ethical norms that would otherwise apply.
In a new paper, @Seculant describes an "active and singular exclusion of young boys" from safeguarding by the failure to reform guidance on non-therapeutic circumcision.

A new paper published by the Clinical Ethics Journal exposes the ethical and safeguarding contradictions from UK medical bodies when it comes to religiously motivated circumcision of male infants. Read a brief summary from the author, @Seculant, here👇
