It is important that students read books where they see themselves in some of the characters. It is also important that students read books about people they would not ordinarily meet.
@Miss_Greenberg @ButFirstSEL @Suessen220 @MrsKristenPaul @MrsStrissel @6thgradeBaymath My favorite moment of the school year would have to be watching my classes collaborate on making their own movie based on The Outsiders. It was messy, fun, and I saw some of their talents from a new perspective!
We have multiple devices set up in our dining room as we update assignments, monitor student progress, and offer support via email! The toddler has taken on an active role joining me in a Schoology conference and now "helping" her dad reply to emails! @MrCarrdan#distancelearning
@MrsKristenPaul@RealSimple Love the color coordinated books! Books are knowledge, entertainment, and art all in one little transportable package! I now need to build these shelves for everywhere! 😁📚
@Catlin_Tucker provides some very practical suggestions about providing practice, feedback, and authentic grades that show what a student's skill is versus their tendency to complete the practice! Read it now and again in August 😉

Ironically staying up past my bedtime to read a few extra chapters of this. If you're looking for an excuse to get more sleep, nothing beats 20 years of research on the topic! #nonfiction#lifelonglearning
I had a professor in college who always made me read a poem at least 3 times…one time to hear it, one time to pull it apart/analyze it & one time to put it back together. It always struck me how much more I “got” on the third read. I follow a similar approach. #StudySyncPoetry
How cool would it be if your students designed the last unit of the year to demonstrate what they’d learned? Flip the Script: Student-Designed Units https://t.co/vn0PpTOIga #edchat#lrnchat#teaching#agency
I witnessed a young teacher do something today I have never seen. While reading the story, she said: “Stand up if you know the term, ‘refugee.’ Ok, each of you go to someone who is seated and explain the term to them. We will keep doing this until all are standing.”

Coaching Tip: If your designing a station rotation lesson, create an overview using Google Slides & project it so kids can see the different stations. Insert a YouTube video of a timer so students can pace their progress through work #PowerUpBL#BLinAction
