The DSL Cup Finals will be between the DSL Reds and the DSL Padres Gold!
The Reds are the sole undefeated team in the postseason with a 5-0 record, lead by top prospect Angel Nuรฑez.
The DSL Angels Red remain undefeated in the postseason, going up 1-0 (best of 3) against Jaider Suรกrez and the DSL Royals Fortuna.
Angel Nuรฑez was the clear standout, going 2-4 with a double, triple, walk, and 2 SB.
Joniel Hernandez belts his second HR of the postseason!
It wasn't enough to win the game though, and the DSL Padres Gold go up 1-0 (best of 3). Dawry Guerrero was the hero of the day, batting in all 5 of the Padres' runs.
Joniel Hernandez with another dominant performance in pool play today:
2-5
HR+SB
2 RBI
3 runs
DSL Giants Black looking like a favorite early on.
#SFGiants
Of course, happy to shed light on the DSL! While it's hard to project the ceiling off of just three months of data, it's a guarantee that Joniel's production is in the same lane as top 100 prospects who also went through the DSL at 17. It sounds ambitious but I believe the floor is top 5 among Giants prospects, ceiling is top 20 overall prospect if his hit tool holds in the upper minors! This is assuming his make up is plus plus (almost a certainty)
Joniel Hernandez is set to face off against his former team, the DSL Padres Gold, in the semifinals.
What an incredible continuation of a roller coaster season for the 17 year old phenom!
I believe the tiebreaker rules are:
1. head to head record within pool
2. winning percentage of last 20 regular season games
Since there was a three way 2-1 tie, and those three teams were 1-1 against each other, the tiebreaker defaults to 20 game win percentage, in which case the Brewers Gold wins out.
For some reason MiLB hasn't clearly outlined tiebreaker rules for the DSL, so I'm using the standard MiLB tiebreaker protocol for the postseason. So sorry if I'm wrong!
OBP leaders among 5'10"+ 17 yo DSL CF (<20% BB%):
Helvin Mendoza: .495๐
Eduardo Quintero: .472
Francisco Renteria: .470
Angeibel Gomez: .467
Mendoza (#Dodgers) showed much less power than the other 3, but the upside is tremendous.

@WhistlinCoyote yep, that seems to be the case. ignore my ignorant note about the giants black๐
looks like brewers gold and reds, but idk about the other two pools cuz they cancelled some games
Two teams have 3 elite 2026 DSL players:
Brewers
Marlins๐
17/30 teams also have at least 1 considered elite by the Seed Stage Model. DSL talent๐๐๐
