Christian nationalism has landed at the Pentagon—and they’re not even hiding it anymore. Just look at this photo.
That’s Doug Wilson, a Christian nationalist thought leader and influential pastor to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Here they were pictured together at a recent prayer event at the Pentagon, and it’s a moment that for Mother Jones’ Kiera Butler illustrates just how integrated Christian nationalists have become in our federal government.
Butler has reported for years on the strong ties between Wilson and his web of Christian nationalist influencers– dubbed the “TheoBros.” (Including, yes Vice President JD Vance.)
But there’s another connection Wilson has with the current mainstream political moment. On January 18, former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested in Los Angeles for covering a protest that disrupted services at Cities Church in St. Paul. The arrest drew widespread attention because of how Lemon’s First Amendment rights were violated; journalism groups, including the National Association of Black Journalists, condemned the act
What never appeared in the flurry of coverage—until Butler wrote about it— was the link between Cities Church and a Christian nationalist movement that has gained increasing clout with strong connections to the Trump administration. Cities Church was founded in part by a pastor named Joe Rigney, a close associate of Doug Wilson, whose Christian nationalist fiefdom centered in Moscow, Idaho, has gained a national following—and is looked to as an example of what a Christian nationalist society could look like.

It’s a week later but I haven’t forgotten that President Trump is trying to arrest leaders in Congress who oppose him politically. Never before in the history of the country has this happened. And we shouldn’t normalize it.
Look at the smug look on Trump’s Treasury Secretary’s face as he says the American people are never getting their money back from these illegal tariffs.
They stole your money. They’re laughing about it. And they think there will be no consequences.
That should tell you everything.
ICE cause yet another car crash—try to arrest U.S. citizen driver that they hit.
"They're putting hands on him!" witness says. "Grabbing him!"
Agent try to handcuff man—but is too incompetent and must wait for backup.
"You just hit a disabled person!" man yells. "Do you know how much trouble you're in!"
Agent then threatens to shoot the other driver with pepper spray—who is talking with his hands up.
The incident occurred near the intersection of State Street and Liberty Boulevard in South Gate, California.
More insidious propaganda befitting a tin pot dictator, this time hanging from the Department of Justice.
Making clear to all, there is not justice left in the department, only Trump’s personal retribution.

In 1946 WWII veteran Maceo Snipes was shot in his back by the KKK the day after he became the first Black person to cast a vote in Taylor County, Georgia.
After he was shot, Mr. Snipes walked three miles to the hospital with his mother. For six hours doctors left him waiting and bleeding. By the time he was seen, he needed a blood transfusion. The doctors said the hospital had no “black blood.” Snipes died two days later.
This is why I will vote in every election. The day I stop voting is the day I stop breathing. #DemsUnited #BlackHistoryWithLana
Mike Johnson has denied the request from Rev. Jesse Jackson’s family and Democrats in Congress to allow his body to lie at the U.S. Capitol, saying this honor is reserved for presidents and certain top federal officials. In contrast, Congress previously approved a special resolution allowing conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s body to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda, even though he was not a president or federal officeholder.
That contrast sends a painful message about whose lives and sacrifices are deemed worthy of our highest public tributes and highest public honors. This is not about protocol, it is about power and disrespect, a deliberate choice to minimize the legacy of a man who bled for this country’s promise of equality. We will not quietly accept this insult to Rev. Jackson, his family, or the movement he helped build.
BREAKING: around midnight last night, Antifa thugs scaled the US Department of Justice building and replaced the new Dept of Justice banner that depicts Donald Trump, with an obscene altered version.
