Imahara was an ILM modeler and animatronics technician who controlled R2-D2 in the Star Wars prequels.

He made a cameo in the mockumentary R2-D2: Beneath the Dome.

He acted in and wrote the fan film Architects of Evil.

He was a member of the 501st Legion fan organization.
