It could easily work, if Loot was picked up as part of a plan, they learn to care for each other over time / overcoming adversity. Earning the love that just seemingly appeared. I’m not trying to hate, just thinking of other ways to build up this family relationship. Thoughts?
I’m happy that Jace and Vraska have a happy ending… am I the only one who thinks the family thing moved really fast? We don’t know anything about Loot really, but instinctively they became parents and him a son? They’re still strangers. I wish we got another story growing this.
@Sinspinner666 @AndreGarciaArt That’s what I think many people don’t get. They see a fun set, I see the slow (actually speeding up) death of the story. WOTC has a bad track record with the lore as is, this further feels like them not caring. If that’s so, pull off the bandage and go ape ish. Just print cards.
@coL_Amazonian I understand people with the “oh it’s just a fun set” take. But as someone who loves the story, watching important figures get devalued for the sake of a western theme sucks. Omenpaths are removing what made Planes unique. If people had PW burnout before, thisll be way worse…
@AndreGarciaArt Yeah I’m probably taking it way too seriously. I’m a huge nerd and that’s a fair argument. But I just feel like what was special about MTGs story is being lost in the endless stream of UB and quick single block sets. This was just the culmination of the modern story design.
@AndreGarciaArt … when they can just rehash fan favorite characters in new settings. It’s just feels, stagnant I guess. And as we see beloved characters in new ways, they slowly lose what made them unique. Like Rakdos. A semi god like figure on Ravnica. A Parun. Reduced to a henchmen?
I've been playing Magic for more than half my life, and it really hurts that the game apparently has nothing interesting left to say or do. I don't really blame the designers or artists, some of whom I've met in person and are wonderful people. It's a much larger problem to me.
