Seito, furious weeb

New dad, old nerd.

[Steven Spohn (Spawn) @stevenspohn]

I made it to 46. Not bad, considering doctors told my mom I’d never see 3.

Each birthday, I celebrate by asking one celebrity to help me make the world a little better. This year, I’m reaching out to @mcuban, and you can help by vouching.

Mark, as a fellow Pittsburgher, I think we both value two things: time and making a difference.

Time, I’m running a little low on.

I’ve spent 25 years working in disability technology, and today I direct Mount Sinai’s Back-to-Life Center.

Here’s the problem I can’t stop thinking about:

No one teaches disabled people how to be disabled.

The healthcare system can save your life, stabilize you, rehab you—and then, far too often, send you home to figure out the rest yourself.

How do I use technology to regain independence?

How do I work?

How do I date?

How do I travel?

How do I find the tools that make everyday life possible?

How do I build a life instead of simply surviving one?

The answers exist. The technology exists. The knowledge exists.

But there’s no real bridge connecting people to it.

So here’s my birthday ask:

Let me send you one email laying out how I think we can build that bridge.

No pitch deck. No ask for a check.

If you think there’s something there, point me toward one person, company, or organization you think I should be talking to.

That would be one hell of a 46th birthday present.

@ThatFuryQEDGuy Sure - but then there’s something for me to learn from them doing way better, and that lets me improve myself. I’m not good because I’ve been playing forever, I’m good because I want to improve.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@Mrhappy1227 Well, that’s nice. Both in that y’all look happy and it’s nice to see something positive as the first thing when I open the doomscroll app.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@TheDavidVinc They’re so great in XIV. They can be used as mounts, can fight alongside you, lots of different chocobo colors, and there’s a ton of different barding/saddle choices to make use of. By chocobo has been my stalwart companion for more than 10 years now. Him a good boy.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@TheMightyFedra @JesseCox Absolutely - the other anti-vaxxers just didn’t give a shit what the doc has to say.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@SlyAKAgreyfox I haven’t done much social media the last couple days - I’m glad to read this one. Thanks, bud.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@Cahlaflour Do these guys not have sisters? Or female cousins?

My daughter is 3, I’d hoped that things would be better by the time she started growing up, becoming a young adult - but at this rate it might be a hell of a lot worse. I’m sorry this is happening, and I’m furious.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@MalRageFFXIV @aitaikimochi @DovenDeath You understand the inflation has nothing to do with who is in office right? Pretty much the whole world experienced higher than normal inflation the past few years. It’s the pandemic, obviously. I bet you think the president sets the fucking price of gas, too.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@JonnyEthco Oh hell yeah brother. The GTA vids are always my favorite - I know they take so much work but god DAMN do I love them.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@JesseCox @FF_XIV_EN Classic Cox quality my dude.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@liquid_aka_Jeff @SeiyaSlaying @505_Games I feel like they were pretty light. Decent, but they honestly felt more like a larger scale part of the narrative than a mode of gameplay.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@curiousjoi @horiusainc I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting one of those - that stick on the bottom right can be used for movement? I’m guessing the XIV is kind of what feels good for the S of wasd, right? Pretty comfortable?

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@JesseCox Hell yeah bud, get some!

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@CoudRender @eiyuden The crashes are the biggest issue. Obviously there’s a lot that needs to be worked on but the crashes are real bad.

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@RandomNumber758 @stevenspohn I didn’t, that’s why I asked. God damn, bud. Who hurt you?

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@RandomNumber758 @stevenspohn Like what? And in what way?

[Seito, furious weeb @Seito_78]

@curiousjoi Either one can carry a game for me. Sea of Stars for example - it’s all about the gameplay for me there, as I think the characters and story are not a very strong point. While something like the Deadpool game has honestly pretty terrible gameplay, but it nails the chars/tone.

[Davidvinc @TheDavidVinc]
