Friday we met with the Creators of a Tale of Two Selbys via zoom - connecting with a theatre of folks in Selby, UK and John in California! Students shared videos about why they love our Selby, ON! @SelbyPublic

This week we learned about Hanukkah. Today, we worked together to make latkes. Thank you Mrs. Ramsay for helping us cook our latkes. Parents be sure to ask your child what the following words mean - Hanukkah, menorah, and dreidels.

This kiddo in grade 2 jumped right into reading her first novel today. Ivy + Bean was an instant hit. She was so excited she didn’t want to put it down. ❤️📚

We had some great conversations about changing attributes, pattern rules and were even able to fix some “bugs” they found in their pattern code.

Wow! Grade 1/2 students know their sorting and patterning! When given some loose parts, and the instruction to show me what they know about sorting and patterning, they got straight to work.

Ask your child about our math game HTO. It is easily replicated at home with a deck of cards and a homemade hundreds, tens, and ones chart.

In Grade 1, we have been talking about bears and hibernation. This week’s poem was called Bear 🐻 is Sleeping. Students worked hard all week practicing our poem and today they read it independently. Parents - this week’s poem will be coming home in students’ literacy bags!

Pink Shirt Day! Mrs. Ramsay shared a story about two of our students showing what pink shirt day is all about - standing up for each other and being kind and compassionate. @SelbyPublic
