Both of these were lovely voyages into the unexpected: @Elana_Brooklyn moves "Cars" into the center of a musical galaxy I didn't realize it had birthed; @byalysonshelton places 80s popcorn at the heart of a story devastating and beautiful.
Round 2 Day 3 game thread (3/4): (6) @numanofficial, “Cars” (essay @Elana_Brooklyn) vs (3) Philip Bailey & Phil Collins, “Easy Lover” (essay @byalysonshelton). Which is the raddest song? Read, listen, vote by 9am 3/16 here and at: https://t.co/UpOfgRIOiN
The @marchxness R2D2 (hey!) songs and essays are all terrific; special shout-out to @jrmcconvey & @eekshecried for reminding me that cheese is wonderful and that "wonder is another way of saying miracle."
@substockman@marchxness (And, of course, will continue voting and shilling and making empty promises to further my bracket and the cornucopia of brilliant essays attached thereto.)
A hearty congratulations to @substockman on a glorious win and on an essay I truly loved. Deeply grateful that @marchxness exists to read & share art. To everyone that read and voted: I appreciate you and have set aside acres of the choicest farmland for you in the metaverse.
@HaddadDoinWork There's an old saying where I come from: "It's not whether you win or lose that matters, it's whether @HaddadDoinWork *believes* you win or lose."
Vote for twangy Telecasters on cavernous 80s drums, yodels on solos, the marriage of the simple and the good! Vote #GeorgiaSatellites https://t.co/uAB0MbrKwq
Round 2 Day 1 game thread (2/4): (11) Timbuk 3, “The Future’s So Bright…” (essay @substockman) vs (3) Georgia Satellites, “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” (essay @selfhelpnyc). Which is the raddest song? Read, listen, vote by 9am 3/14 here and at: https://t.co/mW27v5GLPo
Both of these essays absolutely rule, but if for only “…marriage. To the jing-aling guy,” I gotta give this one to @selfhelpnyc. I was enjoying the atmosphere and build and then I laughed out loud.
2 hours to play, people. If you haven't checked out March Fadness, now's the time to read two very good essays about 2 good songs and make your call. I want to hear @selfhelpnyc's cover so I'm splitting my vote here.
Band names alone: Georgia Satellites: evokes fatback and the space race, twangy guitars and oversized dishes in overgrown backyards. Timbuk3: evokes a flinching revulsion to bad puns. Vote #KYHTY! https://t.co/uAB0MbrKwq

Happy #PiDay! In honor of the 41st and 42nd digits of the number that is clear evidence we are mere simulations in an alien Game Boy™, vote #GeorgiaSatellites!
