Our year 6 classes have returned from PGL and are back to lessons this week. It was an incredible time and the children were able to do various activities such as raft building , abseiling, archery and rock climbing . The children all enjoyed themselves (and the teachers too!
In Spanish, they have been practising using cafe vocabulary to order food and drink. They listened to an exchange between a waiter and customer and translated it to English. Then, role-played as waiting staff and customers. There are definitely some budding linguists in year 5.
This week, our year 5’s have been practising baton techniques in PE. First, they discussed how to hold the baton and how to receive it. After practising in small groups, they had a few ‘races’, and they were very competitive, so they could receive house points for their team!
This week our year 4 classes have been creating their own book sleeves. The main skill learnt was, how to join fabric together (back stitch and forward stitch). In English, they have been learning to create descriptive and detailed sentences using similes and metaphors.

This week our year 3 classes were using the hall apparatus for their PE lesson. They were able to create routines and showcase this.. Our year 3 children also found out that they will be going on a school trip to Horniman’s museum! #educational
This week, year 2 have been creating Onomatopoeia for their literacy unit. The story they are focusing on is ‘We’re going on a lion hunt!
In maths, they have been focusing on division.
In Geography, they studied a map of our local area, they had to plot and find different routes
This week, our year 1 classes have had great fun in PE, learning gymnastics.
They also embarked on their first trip to Selsdon library and received their own library cards!
In DT, they have been making their own moving car scene and adding levers.

This week our reception classes have had fun learning about Bonfire night. They created their own bonfire pictures by using different creative techniques. Also they have practiced their mark making skills to strengthen their fingers to help with fine motor skills.

This week in our Fox Cubs Nursery, the children have been enjoying the theme of Bonfire night.
They loved drawing their own fireworks with crayons, and using different bright coloured glitter.
They also enjoyed pretending to be fire men and fire women this week too!
