Born today, 1928 and still sorely missed. At the height of his popularity he was so sought after that when he couldn’t make a personal appearance to a sea side resort a cardboard cut out was sent for fans to have their photograph taken next to. Happy Birthday Bill.
Delighted to see that @ITV have started showing Heartbeat from the beginning. It is great watching Bill progress his Greengrass character with the mannerisms and body movement as you go through the series. He enjoyed Claude’s slightly respectful relationship with Nick Rowan.
Today would have been Bill's 90th Birthday.Sorely missed but His Humour will be around forever. Here He is delivering one of the Finest lines in Carry On Dick!

A Bittersweet moment for many tonight with Bill's final tv appearance on @TVsPointless at 7pm.Back where he belongs in front of millions of viewers.Thoroughly enjoyed himself.
"One winter it was snowing and he walked in the club in flip flops telling every one they were the latest fashion in Spain, his feet were blue !
We will all miss his humour and his big old pink Cadillic that his mates drove him round the pubs in, the guy was magic ."
"Bill walked on stage and you would smile, he would open his mouth and you would laugh. I defy any one to say that you didn't feel happier after being in his company"
