@RSPBEngland If you haven't already everyone, put some Swift boxes up! I've had such an amazing day watching swifts choose to move into the boxes I've put up. Two have gone in, I can hear their excited calls coming from inside, and 5 others are circling my roof. #SwiftAwarenessWeek

@WriterHannahBT Well, Hannah just maybe. I'm feeling quite overcome really. After 5 years waiting my swift box has just received two swifts and I'm sitting in my front garden listening to them and watching 6 friends skim by overhead! Very proud!!!

This #SwiftAwarenessWeek I actually have four swifts starting to explore around the boxes I put up five years ago! These red listed speedsters need perseverance from us folks. We lost around 100,000 breeding pairs since 1995. What can you do to help?

I'm delighted the Horticultural Peat (Prohibition of Sale) Bill I brought before Parliament today has passed, and moves on to its Second Reading in January. It's crucial we protect our precious peatlands from further damage, and today's success is a step in the right direction.

Didn't dare wish for a late season Osprey today, but our walk across Coombe Heath, RSPB Arne was suddenly blessed when this juvenile flew right overhead @RSPBDorset @harbourospreys..I remember when we didn't even have buzzards along this coast, nature can bounce back beautifully
