Seeing a lot of arm injuries in H.S. baseball this year, especially big velo arms.
Throwing hard matters. Everyone wants velocity.
But part of coaching is keeping pitchers healthy for the state playoff push.
April velo doesn’t matter much if the arm is done by June.
I will not lower the standard for your son. I will not play players who do not do what they have been coached to do. It will not get easier, your son will get tougher. & Yes i do have favorites, my favorites are the players who do what I ask them to do. #EFFORT
@dailyrecordspts@VarsityAces That’s the cost per gym. Large districts with multiple high schools will need at least shot clock in each school. So the costs go up.
@VarsityAces Hard to justify the additional costs to districts as budgets are being cut across the state. This could exacerbate the issues between the haves and have not programs.
We did it! Nutley Public Schools has been recognized as a #bestcommunitiesformusiceducation by the @nammfoundation! Congrats to our dedicated students, teachers, administrators & community members! Nutley is celebrating 17 years of excellence on receiving this honor. #nutleymusic
Bravo to the cast, crew, & directors for 2 phenomenal performances of Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr.! From diving into the big blue to travel to P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney, our middle school students nailed it! 🐠🪸A special shoutout to everyone behind the scenes! Congrats! 🎭
The “boring” stuff wins ballgames:
-Backing up the play
-Putting the ball in play
-Moving the runner
-Making the routine plays
-Consistent communication
-Throwing strikes
-Smart baserunning
-Taking your walks
-Getting HBP, holding your ground
-Hitting a cutoff man
-Hustling out everything
*At some point, the “boring” tasks of ⚾️ will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call “boring.”
Turn the “boring” into the “important” and that’s how you win!

As an AD, I struggle to understand why some parents resist high standards for their kids. Growth doesn’t come from comfort, it comes from being pushed, being coached hard, and being held accountable.
As a dad, I hate seeing my kid disappointed. But I’d rather see him face adversity now than be unprepared later. Learning to handle failure, earn your role, and fight through challenges matters more than any short term result.
Winning matters. Not just on the scoreboard, but in learning how to prepare, compete, and respond when things don’t go your way. That’s what builds someone ready for the real world.
During contact period last year, I watched a coach walk into a high school and talk to three people about a
recruit.
The guidance counselor. A math teacher. A kid in the hallway.
None of them were the head coach. None of them were the recruit.
By the time the coach left, he knew more about that kid's character than any highlight reel could show.
This is happening at schools across the country. Act accordingly.
Students need to learn how to sit, think, and write for extended periods.
No phones. No computer.
Just their thoughts, the struggle to organize them, and the clarity that comes from deep focus.
COACHES: It might not be "your fault" but it's 100% "your responsibility" to do all you can to make things better, find solutions, and maximize the potential of all your team members.
