I don’t understand how a journal like Nature gets away with a title that includes “Is there science behind their methods?” Science IS the method. Question, research, hypothesis, experiment, measurement, analysis, conclusion. Repeat. Their version suggests that there’s this accepted body of knowledge known as “science” and doing something to question or expand it isn’t “science.”
@infantrydort If there isn’t an immediate, shockingly violent, large-scale publicly documented massacre of everyone involved including the most tangentially involved enablers, the UK should cease to exist as a nation and its former culture preserved solely in history books.
@niccruzpatane “50% more air per body weight”. Finally an explanation for why my much smaller 13yo son and I use almost the exact same amount of air on scuba dives.
I like it for the same reason but I feel like something is lost with all the howework being on worksheets now instead of needing to be copied to a blank page from a book. Not only was there value in putting the problem on the page in a form that led to solving it, there was no artificial bound on the amount of space available for the steps of the solution.
@PatRyanUC@rohanspatel How many of those privileged morons served in some capacity or have kids who do? Their idea of a fight is to stand outside a couple hours on a weekend? Good Lord you are an idiot.
@johnkonrad That Poso kid trying to act like he’s some sort of naval strategist has me more worried about what our approach to gulf shipping will be than anything else I’ve seen. @johnkonrad my fingers are crossed you get in there before someone lets him anywhere near the room.
Maybe that’s the ideal use case right there —rather than automating adult tasks with high potential for damage, orient it towards youth teaching/learning. “Hey Kelly, we’ve got that old remote controlled Nerf gun tank toy sitting in the closet that we were gonna throw away. Can you come up with a project that the kids could do with it and no more than about $50 of extra supplies to make it something cool fun and useful, and then put together a step-by-step project guide with pictures not just on how to build it but with simple explanation of what all the components do?”
@delujog@wil_da_beast630 Right, but they will go through one to make a statement. If it’s yours and you decided it was a good day to stay in your trunks poolside and watch the Vin Diesel movie being filmed all around you, you have no chance.
It starts with them thinking they received something worth $300k, yet having not needed to exert any effort to do so. There is no concept of “value.” Something along the lines of “I got this really expensive thing by doing nothing, so anyone with really expensive things must have also done nothing.”
