Federal Executive Council Approves Draft National Land Transport Policy
On Wednesday, July 31, 2025, I had the honour of presenting the Draft National Land Transport Policy to the Federal Executive Council (FEC), and I’m pleased to announce that it was graciously approved under the leadership of President @officialABAT Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
This is a landmark moment for our nation. Since independence, Nigeria has operated without a unified policy framework to guide and coordinate our land transport sector. With this approval, we now have a bold and strategic document that sets the stage for a more efficient, integrated, affordable, and safe transport system.
The National Land Transport Policy is a direct expression of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which prioritizes infrastructure, economic connectivity, and inclusive development. The policy provides a legal and institutional framework to reform our land transport systems while also promoting private sector investment and sustainable practices.
It outlines how Nigeria will align with global transport conventions and regional protocols such as AfCFTA and ECOWAS, enabling us to become more competitive in trade and logistics. It also embraces modern, climate-conscious mobility solutions by encouraging the use of cleaner energy, safer urban mobility, and accessible infrastructure for all.
Structured into 19 chapters, the policy details implementation strategies in its final chapters and will be jointly executed by the Federal Ministry of Transportation, relevant MDAs, state governments, and private stakeholders. It was developed through extensive stakeholder engagement to ensure inclusivity and practicality.
I thank Mr. President for his unwavering support and clear direction. His vision is that transportation should no longer be a challenge in our development journey but a strategic driver of economic growth, job creation, and national unity.
As Minister of Transportation, I remain fully committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of this policy. Together, we will deliver a modern transport system that truly works for every Nigerian.

Minister of Transportation Expresses Gratitude to the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) on His Election as Member
I am deeply honoured to have been elected as a member of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA)—a globally respected institution dedicated to excellence in land acquisition, infrastructure development, and right of way management.
This recognition is a humbling affirmation of the modest contributions we have made toward repositioning Nigeria’s land transport sector under the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT, GCFR, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the IRWA for finding me worthy of this honour. Beyond being a personal milestone, it reflects Nigeria’s increasing relevance in global conversations around infrastructure reform and sustainable transportation development.
I also wish to express my profound appreciation to Mr. President for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transformative governance. His agenda continues to create an enabling environment for reforms, innovation, and progress across all critical sectors, especially transportation.
This honour further strengthens my resolve to continue serving our great nation with diligence, integrity, and a deep sense of national responsibility.
Thank you.

Minister of Transportation Intervenes in the Rehabilitation of Gombe-Kwami-Dukku-Darazo and Gombe-Bajoga-Nafada-Federal Roads
On Friday, 24th April, 2025, I visited my counterpart, His Excellency, David Umahi @realdaveumahi, Hon Minister of works and Housing to make intervention in the rehabilitation of Gombe-Kwami-Dukku-Darazo as well as Gombe-Bajoga-Nafada roads under the 2025 Appropriations Act.
The intervention has been carried out to facilitate the execution of the laudable projects to achieve their objectives of boosting trade, commerce and agriculture in Gombe State, North East and the country at large. The intervention has become necessary in recognition of inadequate budgetary allocations which will not make their execution a reality in the nearest future time.
Accordingly, I have solicited the support of the two Ministers of Works, David Umahi and Bello Goronyo to assist in prioritizing their execution while I lobby the National Assembly Appropriations Committees to support the Federal Government's laudable initiative for the projects, whose economic viability in boosting revenue, agricultural output, interstate businesses and welfare of the people cannot be overemphasized.
I have considered it expedient to boldly say that the execution of these projects will not only enhance the potentials of the famous international markets at Dukku, Darazo and Ngalda, but will also consolidate the strategic status of Gombe as the most rapid growing economy in the north east.
As Federal Minister of Transportation representing Gombe State, I will remain committed in supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of our dear President which prioritizes the provision of efficient transportation among others as enabler of economic growth and gateway to the nation's economy.

When we came into office the first step we took was to evaluate the entire Railway sector so as to ascertain what was promptly needed to be done as a quick measure to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in Nigeria’s transport system.
