#UPDATE The San Diego County Sheriff's Office has called off the search for Sexually Violent Predator Merle Wakefield after he was found deceased in the City of San Diego.

On Monday, October 19, just after 9:30 a.m., the San Diego Police Department responded to a call of a human body that was discovered in a riverbed near the 4800 block of Fairmount Avenue.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and later positively identified the body to be Wakefield. The Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Wakefield’s death. His next of kin has been notified.

Because this is still an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

On September 25, Wakefield removed his GPS device while at work in Rancho Bernardo and absconded from the scene.

Personnel with Liberty Healthcare, which was in charge of supervising Wakefield as part of the State's Conditional Release Program, notified the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and San Diego Police Department when Wakefield could not be located. All law enforcement agencies in the region were also alerted, as well as the public and media.

Since Wakefield’s disappearance, the San Diego Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force worked diligently investigating this case and followed all tips and leads.

@SDSheriff wants to thank its law enforcement partners, as well as the community and media, for their assistance with this case.

A reminder: If You See Something, Say Something.

Report any suspicious activity by calling your local law enforcement agency. In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You can also remain anonymous by calling San Diego County Crime Stoppers at [phone].

Newsom Is Using Your Tax Dollars to Post Memes and Run for President.

He has 24 taxpayer funded staff paid $2.6 million a year to post for him including a full time photographer making $212,000 a year and two staffers assigned full time to fighting common sense online. California families cannot afford rent and Newsom is spending their money keeping his presidential campaign warm. #FixCalifornia

California Diesel Just Hit $8.35 a Gallon. Small Trucking Companies Are Losing Money on Every Mile.

Truckers are fueling up in Arizona to avoid California prices. Companies are cutting their fleets in half. Every gallon that goes into a truck ends up on your grocery bill. This is what happens when you chase refineries out of the state, pile on cap and trade and the LCFS gas hike and call it climate policy. Californians are paying for it at the pump and at the register. #FixCalifornia

Nuclear Energy Is Back on the Table in California.

Our bill requiring the state to assess the potential for advanced nuclear power plants to help meet California's energy needs is now law. We have been saying for years that nuclear has to be part of California's clean energy future. Thank you to @AsmLisaCalderon for introducing AB 2647 and for her partnership every step of the way. Today it finally is. #FixCalifornia

SB 1256 Is Law. The Loophole That Was Killing Housing Projects Is Closed.

For too long bad actors have used litigation to delay and block housing and land use decisions that California families desperately need. Every project held up in court is a home that does not get built and a family that cannot afford to live here. That changes today. #FixCalifornia

Scammers Beware. SB 1307 Is Now the Law.

Governor Newsom signed SB 1307 today giving prosecutors the tools to wipe fraudulent and forged documents off the record faster and protect property owners and businesses from the damage they cause. Proud to have authored this bill and grateful for the support of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. #FixCalifornia

Today is Dolly Parton Day in California.

Dolly was one of a kind. A voice that touched every generation, a faith she never hid and a heart that gave more than most. Thank you Senator Grove for carrying this legislation and thank you Dolly for everything you gave this world. #FixCalifornia

Newsom Killed Prop 36 Without Repealing It.

Californians voted for real consequences for drug offenders and a path to treatment to break the cycle of crime. Newsom fought it, lost and then starved it of funding. Counties asked for $650 million to implement it. He gave them $100 million. Of nearly 19,000 cases charged under Prop 36 only 57 people graduated treatment. Crime is still happening. People are still suffering. And Newsom made sure the one tool voters demanded could not do its job. #FixCalifornia

Three Years of Fighting for Veterans. Today It Is the Law.

For too long veterans with PTSD have been told there is nothing left to try. Today California is committed to finding what works. My legislation to fund research into emerging therapies for veterans was signed into law. Thank you to @AsmJeffGonzalez and @SenJoshBecker for their partnership and to the VFW, American Legion and Heroic Hearts Project for fighting alongside us. This one is for every veteran who deserved better. #FixCalifornia

On POW & MIA Recognition Day we honor every American who was captured or went missing in service to this country. My grandfather Master Sergeant Paul D. Jones was shot down over the Kai Islands flying a B-24 Liberator named "The Red Ass" with the 530th Bomb Squadron. To those who came home and those who never did, your courage and sacrifice define the very best of America. You will never be forgotten.

[Brian W. Jones @SenBrianJones]

Happy Birthday to the United States Air Force! This branch runs deep in my family. My grandfather Master Sergeant Paul D. Jones flew a B-24 Liberator named "The Red Ass" with the 530th Bomb Squadron and was shot down over the Kai Islands. My father Clifford W. Jones served during the Vietnam Era keeping his unit fed and mission ready. Two generations of service. I am who I am because of them.

California Made Its Bed. Now Everyone Pays for It.

Last September I warned that losing 20 percent of California's gas supply would send prices through the roof. California gas just hit $6 a gallon. Diesel hit a record $8.15. We were right. Democrats blocked every fix we proposed. This is what happens when you ignore the warning signs. #FixCalifornia

Buckle up for more price spikes & job losses!

Phillips 66 will start shutting down its L.A. refinery this week. Months ahead of schedule.

Along with Valero’s closure next year, that’s 20% of CA’s gas supply - gone!

This is the price we pay to live in Gavin Newsom's California. #FixCalifornia

We Stood Firm. The Facts Proved Us Right.

We raised our voices in this Legislature and did not stop opposing parole board members who approved the release of convicted child sex offenders. Democrats did not want to vote on the record so they quietly removed them behind closed doors. The pressure worked. This is what happens when you refuse to back down. #FixCalifornia

California Gas Just Hit $6 a Gallon. Diesel Hit $8.15.

We already pay more than anyone in the country and it is going to get worse. When diesel hits record highs everything you buy goes up with it. This is why we cannot keep chasing refineries out of California. #FixCalifornia

A Major Win for Cancer Patient Rights and Transparency in California.

Twelve years of fighting and SB 1150 is finally signed into law. As a cancer survivor I know a diagnosis changes everything. What should not change is your right to know what your government is doing with your medical information. Transparency in health care is not a political issue.

Thank you to Senator Weber Pierson for her bipartisan partnership and to everyone who refused to let this fight die. Today transparency won. #FixCalifornia

Americans Have Lost Faith In Our Schools, And They're Right To.

Only thirty two percent of Americans are satisfied with our schools today, the lowest number in twenty seven years! Parents deserve real alternatives, not more excuses. #FixCalifornia
