#EndWell2017 was hands down, one of the best, poignant yet truly joyful, beautiful conferences. Packed with nearly 500 people (with 300 on the waiting list), the space was intense, pregnant with a sense of potential to transform the culture, of an often "taboo" subject
I went there nearing a total burnout. I was dreadful if there is any piece of optimism left in me to project from the stage - that I would have to fake hope. Who would have thought a symposium about dying (well) would recharge and rejuvenate you to the very core. I feel reborn
I found that many who came to "this line of work" had, one way or the other, a transformative experience in the past - often a personal tragedy - that forced them to reevaluate things. Lotus flowers emerge from the mud. Realest shit, as they say.
There's something transcendental about people who work in the threshold of life (on both ends - beginning and end) - those who chose the "front row seat on human condition." It is the ultimate "extreme scenarios" of life that won't allow space for any sort of half baked BS. - Y
