As Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), I reaffirm our dedication to transparency, efficiency, and impact-driven service delivery. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that every kobo disbursed translates into tangible progress in our schools.

Today, I paid a condolence visit to Prof. Attahiru Muhammadu Jega at his Abuja residence over the painful loss of his beloved wife, Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Muhammadu Jega. Prof. Jega currently serves as Special Adviser to the President on Livestock Reforms.
In moments like this, words may never be enough, but I reminded my dear brother and friend that death is an inevitable part of life, and Allah alone gives and takes life according to His divine will.
I pray that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, grants her Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives Prof. Jega and the entire family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss with patience and faith. Ameen

Sometimes I reflect on how even a simple chicken can teach a powerful lesson about trust. A chicken will gently climb onto the hand of its owner to feed, not because it is forced to, but because over time it has learned that the hand reaching out to it means care, not harm.
In that small moment, the bird becomes vulnerable, yet calm. It trusts completely that the one feeding it will protect it and not betray that closeness. That kind of trust is not built in a day it grows through consistency, patience, and genuine kindness.
It reminds me that in life, people place their trust in us the same way. And when someone trusts you enough to place themselves in your hands, the greatest responsibility is to honor that trust with sincerity and integrity.

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of engaging in an interactive session with students of Valyd Ella Modern School, Lokogoma. It was an inspiring opportunity to interact with these bright young minds and discuss important issues surrounding education, leadership, and personal growth.
During the session, I spoke about my role as the Board Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), particularly the responsibility of ensuring that out-of-school children are brought back into the classroom. I highlighted the goals of the Commission and the efforts of the Federal Government toward improving access to quality basic education across the country.
I also discussed some of the achievements recorded so far, as well as the direction the Commission is taking to strengthen the basic education system and provide better opportunities for Nigerian children.
Beyond policy discussions, the students were eager to learn about my personal journey. I shared insights into my lifestyle, some of the challenges and setbacks I have experienced along the way, how I balance family life with public responsibilities, and even lighter moments discussing my favorite food and music.
I commend the students who actively participated in the session Ella, Splendor, Mabel, Muhammad, Deborah, and Blossom, whose thoughtful questions made the conversation lively and engaging.
Engaging with young people and encouraging them to believe in education, discipline, and hard work remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of leadership. I appreciate the management of Valyd Ella Modern School, Lokogoma for creating this platform to connect with the next generation of leaders.

I stumbled on my old pictures from the 80s and was reminded that time changes everything, except purpose. The dreams were young, the journey uncertain, but the fire was there. My trajectory in the Constituent Assembly (1988/1989) remains a defining chapter.
If you are still breathing, your story is not over. The struggles built strength. The delays built wisdom. The scars prove you survived.
Hold on. Rise again. Your best days may still be ahead.
Jumma Mubarak.
