It's shocking how many educated millennials I know who had insane runs in their 20s and 30s and are now completely lost and broken in their 40s.

I think a lot of my generation chose unconventional/sexy lifestyles in their 20s, not realizing that it would deprive them from developing many of the soft skills and commitments required to thrive and function in middle age and beyond.

In other words, they optimized for their Instagram feeds rather than their actual lived experience and are now silently paying a deep price.
