Ontario truck driver Baljeet Singh has been sentenced to six years in prison for a deadly July 2022 pileup on Highway 30 near Brossard, Quebec.
Singh was playing an online game on his cellphone instead of watching the road as he entered a construction zone.
The crash killed Nancy Lefrançois, 42, and her 11-year-old son, Loïc Chevalier, and injured 10 others.
Singh later fled to India and then California before his arrest and extradition in 2025. With credit for time served, he has roughly four years and four months remaining. He was also banned from driving for 10 years.
