Turning my #C64 into a guitar powered SID synth thanks to TeensyROM 👾 This little beast from @SensoriumEmb is a MIDI, ROM Emulator, Fast Loader, and Internet hub for the Commodore 64. Retro-futuristic magic✨
@AnnatarTheMaia@kneehighspy@CommodoreBlog Sounds like you're thinking of RAM in the C64 emulating ROM, that's not what's happening here, the TR does true external ROM emulation.
@AnnatarTheMaia@kneehighspy@CommodoreBlog External ROMs are emulated (by the TR) via the expansion port, and requires decoding the address and placing the requested data on the bus to be read (as if it were a "real" ROM) all within about 200 nano-seconds.
@AnnatarTheMaia@kneehighspy@CommodoreBlog This means it can emulate thousands of ROM cartridges, among other features. The OneLoad64 collection is a good example, over 2100 cartridge games in there, instantly loadable with the TeensyROM.

@rwxdesigns@FREEZE64UK In your previous post you said "without knowing how the interface works". I'm happy to explain it in low level detail if you like, and the design is fully open source. :)
Thank you! :)
@rwxdesigns@FREEZE64UK I'm sorry, I really don't understand your concern. It's doing the same thing every other emulation cart does, just using NFC as a trigger. It's all solid state electronics... Do you have technical data to back up your claim?
Introducing the NFC-1541... coming this weekend! Big thank you to @timwilsie for the label design and @SensoriumEmb@StatMat01 for the inspiration to do a C64 inspired #TapTo case!
@rwxdesigns@FREEZE64UK Yes, it's not doing power cycling or anything like that, just pulling the (open collector) Reset signal low to restart/initialize as carts (and external power buttons) have done for years. :)
