According to Sky News Arabia, citing an unspecified source, Iran has sent a draft ceasefire proposal to the U.S. that is reportedly now under review by the Trump administration. Per the report, the initial précis of the proposal is supposedly acceptable to the administration. This comes following U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s comments earlier that the talks are in their late stages.

Elements of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division were secretly deployed to Israel in early April, as part of joint contingency planning between Israel and the United States, completed since February, for seizing Iranian-controlled Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf and carving out coastal territory inside Iran, according to a deployment order seen by Ken Klippenstein.

According to Reuters, citing information from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), an unspecified U.S. Navy surface drone was responsible for locating the two U.S. soldiers after their AH-64 Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz. While it’s not clear what specific system was utilized, the U.S. navy operates number of unmanned surface vessel squadrons, that are capable of a number of roles, including intelligence gathering and interdiction. Following the story by the New York Times on the U.S. Army AH-64 Apache that was downed near the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed both reports that it went down and the rescue of the two crew members, saying that the helicopter went down near the coast of Oman. Per the CENTCOM release, both soldiers were rescued within two hours of the helicopter going down and rescue efforts were led by U.S. Naval Forces CENTCOM and the 82nd Airborne Division. Additional naval and Air Force units provided support. Notably, no reason is provided for the helicopter’s downing, as per CENTCOM, “the cause of the incident is under investigation.”
