🚨Fauci's diary says he privately put COVID's fatality rate at 0.2-0.3%. Under oath weeks later, he told Congress it was 10x the flu. The timeline:

Feb 8, 2020 (private diary): case fatality rate "more like 0.2-0.3%."

March 10 (Hannity): "The mortality for this is about 2-2.5%. It's probably lower than that, closer to 1%. But even if it's 1%, it's 10x more lethal than the seasonal flu."

March 11 (Congress, under oath): "The stated fatality rate of this overall... is about 3%. If you count all the cases of asymptomatic infection, that probably brings the mortality down to 1%, which means it's 10x more deadly than the seasonal flu."

March 27 (Daily Show): "The mortality of this is about 10x the flu. It's at least 1%."

He wrote 0.2-0.3% in his journal — then told the public, over and over, a number 3 to 5 times higher.

After seeing a post on it yesterday, I’ve looked more deeply into Anthropic’s purchasing and destruction of millions of used books.

They spent tens of millions of dollars acquiring and destroying books to train their AI model, Claude.

They knew, from the beginning that it would be unpopular. They knew what they were doing, was wrong.

An internal memo from 2024 stated:

“Project Panama is our effort to destructively scan all the books in the world.”

“We don’t want it to be known that we are working on this.”

Why used books?

Companies like Anthropic and Meta found it impractical to gain permission from authors and publishers to use their work.

So instead, they stole their work to train their product through mass purchases of used books and through pirating them from the internet.

The authors of these works, didn’t receive a dime for their efforts. These companies stole the hard won literary talent of others to train machines to replace the victims of their theft.

Anthropic cofounder Ben Mann personally downloaded countless books for this purpose from LibGen, a book pirating website.

When a new book piracy website debuted in 2022, Mann sent an email sharing the link with his employees stating: “just in time!!!”

Meta employees were wary about the piracy of books, with one engineer writing, “Torrenting from a corporate laptop doesn’t feel right.”

Anthropic purchased millions of books, in batches of tens of thousands from Better World Books and U.K.-based World of Books.

They then used a “hydraulic powered cutting machine” to slice off the spines of these books before scanning them. Finally, the remains of these books were picked up for recycling.

Feel free to use AI, it’s a free country.

But remember that, if you use Claude, that Anthropic has committed a great wrong, and they knew that they were doing it from the beginning.

AI is inevitable, but spend your money on the companies who do good, and do not knowingly commit evils.

Only a few days separate Gaza City from complete collapse. What remains of life here is falling apart before the eyes of the world.

Desalination plants have stopped, and bakeries, factories, power generators, and vehicles are shutting down one after another due to the lack of fuel and oil. Within days, ambulances and hospital services may completely stop.

In hospitals, injured people and patients are dying because of the lack of medicine, medical equipment, and the resources needed to save their lives. There are no sufficient medical supplies, no prosthetic limbs for those who have lost their limbs, and no wheelchairs for the injured and people with disabilities.

Most essential materials are being prevented from entering. There is no wood, no iron, no cement, and no materials to rebuild what has been destroyed. Even caravans and shelter units are not allowed to enter.

Waste is piling up, and there is no ability to remove or manage it, increasing the spread of diseases and making life more unbearable day after day.

The economy is collapsing, unemployment is rising at an alarming rate, aid is decreasing, and thousands of families are struggling just to obtain the most basic necessities of life.

An entire city is being brought to a standstill before the eyes of the world.

What is the world waiting for before it acts?

If the world can see an entire city collapsing, injured people dying in hospitals, and people losing the most basic necessities of life… when will it finally move?

btw anthropic's internal document on this literally said "we don't want it to be known that we are working on this.”

it was called project panama.

here's exactly what happened:

1: anthropic concluded that books were the cheapest way to build a world-class model because they gave claude curated facts, structured arguments, compelling stories, and writing “an editor would approve of.”

2: once anthropic decided it needed books at enormous scale, its first solution was piracy.

it downloaded 7m+ books from online libraries including libgen. the judge later wrote that although anthropic had legal ways to buy them, it chose piracy to avoid what dario amodei called the “legal/practice/business slog.”

3: that piracy created a massive legal risk.

so in february 2024, anthropic hired tom turvey, the former head of partnerships for google books, to find a legally safer way of obtaining “all the books in the world.”

4: turvey first contacted major publishers about licensing their catalogs.

those attempts didn’t produce agreements, so anthropic chose a route that required no publisher permission: buying millions of physical books through distributors and used-book retailers.

5: within about a year, anthropic spent tens of millions acquiring and scanning millions of books, including many rare and 1/1 titles. one vendor proposal targeted 500,000 to 2 million books in six months.

6: to scan that many books within months, the vendors physically dismantled them.

a hydraulic cutter removed each spine. the pages were trimmed to size, fed as loose sheets through high-speed industrial scanners, and converted into searchable PDFs. the paper remains were then sent for recycling.

7: these PDFs were fed into claude as training data.

the complete collection became a private, searchable anthropic library that the company planned to “store forever.” the scans aren’t available to the public and were never open-sourced.

This is absolutely horrific. Not only are rare books destroyed forever. Their digitalized contents can be altered in the future because the original can’t be referenced to correct any lies about their contents.

💢 NEW: Israeli soldiers forced two US citizens from their home in Turmus Ayya, in the occupied West Bank, so troops could use it as a lookout position, their son, Dr. Said Shukri, told Drop Site News.

The home belongs to his father, Dr. Hassan Said Shukri, a neurologist based in Syracuse, New York.

Shukri said soldiers carrying M16s pointed a gun at his 61-year-old mother and gave his parents one hour to pack. When he could not reach his father for two hours, he contacted the US Embassy. He said the embassy told him there was nothing it could do and refused to contact the Israeli military.

His parents have since returned after the soldiers abruptly left. “It is only because of the public pressure that they were able to return to their home,” Shukri said.

He said soldiers had occupied the neighboring family’s home for four days before moving directly into his parents’ house.

We are appealing this back to the Supreme Court. 

The Second Circuit ruled this way last year and the Supreme Court vacated it and told them to try again. They decided to again violate the rights of the Amish. So, we will be going back to the Supreme Court.

Also, yes, the Amish children in this case are far healthier than American children who are vaccinated. Our sworn papers make that clear that the families in the three Amish schools at issue in this case have a total of 168 unvaccinated children (no vaccines) and that none of these children have any of the chronic health issues that plague children in the United States.

We also provided sworn expert evidence attesting that among a random sample of 168 U.S. children, one would expect to find (based on the background rate of chronic disease among U.S. children) 31 cases of environmental allergies, 15 cases of ADHD, 10 cases of asthma, 9 cases of food allergies, and 4 cases of ASD. Yet, the 168 unvaccinated Amish children whose families New York wants to persecute are free from the chronic health conditions—all related to some form of immune system dysregulation—that plague the vaccinated communities in New York.

Since vaccination is supposedly about improving health, and the Amish who do not vaccinate are clearly healthier, one would expect New York to leave them alone. But that is not how this religion works. The vaccine zealots in New York cannot stand that the Amish refuse to abandon their beliefs in favor of the religious beliefs held by the New York officials regarding vaccines. These “health” officials are willing to sacrifice the way of life and belief system of these Amish children and their community, that has kept them far healthier, if they refuse to bend the knee to adopt cult-like vaccine beliefs.

These “health” officials also apparently cannot stand that the Amish children are healthier and are even willing to wage war against them until they submit and receive every vaccine New York demands—so they can be just as “healthy” as all the children outside the Amish community.

The Amish earnestly seek to avoid conflict but because violating their sincerely held religious beliefs is not an option, they have been placed in the impossible position of being required to leave New York to simply send their healthy children to Amish schools on Amish land. We, along with co-counsel, intend to continue litigate on behalf of the Amish to defend their freedom to practice their religion in peace.

My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."

I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.
