Folarin Balogun, the US’s leading scorer in the World Cup, was born in Brooklyn, after his Nigerian parents, who resided in London, were visiting New York and his mother was deemed too far along in her pregnancy to board her return flight.
Because he was born on US soil, Balogun was granted American citizenship under the 14th Amendment.
However, the current administration is hoping to halt birthright citizenship for children.
Trump issued an executive order banning it moving forward.
There is a case currently in front of the Supreme Court and SCOTUS is expected to rule on the matter this summer.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 53 YEARS, THE KNICKS ARE NBA CHAMPIONS 🏆
New York defeats San Antonio 4-1 in the NBA Finals, capturing their third championship in franchise history!
@PlayoffBoundNYK I see it already. I’m gonna be telling my kid how good Brunson was an they gonna tell me why Wemby the goat for having the first ever 0-2 at home comeback and starting talking about “The President‘s Game” and how he upset Trump.
@1RayJ2 Every time this happens I remember that OG missing a late-game free throw is the only reason Hali could tie that Game 1 last year. He was probably thinking about this in his head too.
