This resonates for me.
The Boomers didn't save us... because they weren't ever calling the shots.
If we want to blame somebody, look at the political class. And if you want to really find the culprit... look at the donor class... the "elites".
That's who sold us out.
A Letter from a Boomer to Gen Z
I read your letter. I hear your anger. You feel betrayed, and a lot of you have every right to feel that way.
You’re right that it got bad. But let me tell you how it actually happened from our side.
We switched parties more than once trying to get smaller government. We voted for politicians who promised to cut spending, secure the border, and put Americans first. We showed up at the polls. We wrote letters. We trusted the system.
The politicians did what they wanted anyway.
We never voted for open borders. We never voted to ship our factories overseas. We never voted to raid the Social Security lockbox or take the country off the gold standard. Those decisions were made by the generation before us and the permanent ruling class in Washington. They broke the deal no matter which party we sent to power.
We built the interstate system, the power grid, the early internet backbone, the satellite networks, and much of the physical world you live in today. You enjoy the benefits of that infrastructure every single day. We handed it to you in far better shape than we received it.
The suffering you feel, the wage stagnation, the housing crisis, the debt, the broken trust, didn’t fully hit until your generation and the one after. We watched it coming, warned about it, and got called every name in the book for doing so.
We didn’t create this mess. We inherited part of it and then failed to stop it. That’s on us. But pretending we wanted this outcome or voted for it is simply not true.
We still believe in hard work, self-reliance, and building something real. We hope you do too.
The country we grew up in had real problems, but it also had real opportunity. You deserve that same chance.
A Boomer who still shows up and votes every single time
@AuronMacintyre The government refuses to help.
So, I'm just going to wait until either a collapse happens, or a Declaration of Independence 2.0.
At that point, we'll be able to deal with the foreigners our way.
@sltrib Is anybody really moved or united by politicians declaring themed months?
It all just seems like they think they're doing something, and we ignore them.
Do you remember that feeling at the end of high school where you desperately just wanted to be free and move on with your life?
How you didn’t even care what the next step was? You just knew that the possibilities for a better life were out there?
So, anyway… the Federal government.
@MarinasHammer The main takeaway here for me is that our electoral system promotes our inept, our incapable, and our corrupt.
The only conclusion that I can reach is not that we should vote harder, but that we should scrap the entire system.
I predict that at some point in the next 5-7 years, millions of ARMED citizens will march through Washington DC to take our country back from these blood-sucking politicians and bureaucrats.
It’s going to be the bloodiest event in U.S. history.
Americans can only take so much of this bullshit.
@Countcristo44 NONE. OF. THEM.
I like Latinos a lot, but I wouldn’t keep them either.
Most countries have the natural resources to build prosperous economies. If they can’t, it’s not our job to make room for them in our’s.
Imagine if they had just recognized this after the revolution and sent the Africans home!
Or imagine if rather than importing slave labor from Mexico, those farmers decided to go to Mexico and hire workers!
Imagine if Microsoft had just opened new campuses in India instead of moving the Third World into our neighborhoods!
Imagine where we might be today!!
Through inflating the currency… putting younger home buyers into life debt bondage… and patting themselves on the back??
Way to go Boomers! You’re so amazing, for… (checks notes)… going to work.
(btw… I know that Boomers aren’t to blame for these conditions. The Federal Reserve is. But they don’t know that)
@realmflynnJR@StopShoutBlog But… how? Who could do it??
We’re going to have to admit that things will only get worse until we declare independence from our government once again.
THEN we can get shit done.
If we separated into 2 groups and changed nothing else, the problem would mostly solve itself.
They need us. We don’t need them. It was a kindness to tolerate them.
When they started demanding more from our communities… laws to elevate them…institutions to validate them… taxes to subsidize them… holidays to celebrate them… community gatherings to recognize them... they’re movement crossed over into a place where they took what they didn’t deserve.
Let them sink or swim on their own now. We don’t want to be united with them anymore.
