Shocked to read how many folks didnt like the 500 yesterday
Sure, annoying lapped traffic at the end
But it was such an entertaining event overall!
Basing enjoyment on the finish alone is how you end up with stages/playoffs/overtime
Careful what you wish for! 🏁
Wow.
The first #Indy500 on @IndyCarOnFOX averaged more than 7 million viewers (7.05 million) according to Nielsen fast nationals, making it the most-watched Indy 500 in 17 years (7.245 million, 2008).
Peak audience was 8.4 million during the closing laps.
Up 40% YOY (5.024M).
Now's the part where IndyCar goes, "If you enjoyed the exciting spectacle of superspeedway racing, join us the rest of the year where you'll never see anything like that again."
#Indy500
If you want to know what winning the #Indy500 means, all you gotta do is look at the photos of the other drivers on the “podium” after they get out of their cars. 🫶
Not that it matters now, but we're hitting the time at which Kyle Larson would've had to have gotten out of the car in order to safely get to Charlotte on time, according to the team's schedule. So, would've missed somewhere around the last 40 laps if he'd not spun.
