Un Français en vacances en Thaïlande vient de m’envoyer cette vidéo. On y voit un pauvre éléphant forcé de porter des touristes sur sa trompe, avec le crochet du dresseur planté dans sa tête.

Ce crochet est utilisé pour briser les éléphanteaux lors du processus de dressage, en leur infligeant des douleurs atroces, pour qu’ils apprennent à obéir au doigt et à l’œil une fois adultes (même si cela n’évite pas les accidents, parfois mortels).

Ces animaux subissent une vie de souffrances pour que les touristes puissent se prendre en photo avec eux. Ces pratiques sont une honte et il y a un moyen très simple d’y mettre fin : ne jamais participer à ces activités qui impliquent des animaux sauvages.

Et si un « sanctuaire » vous propose de donner un bain à un éléphant ou d’interagir avec lui en échange d’argent, ce n’est pas un sanctuaire.
