This problem in my opinion stems from overprotective parents who in past experiences have made important life decisions for them.
In other cases, many of them didn't even have a choice or the chance to choose. Some are purely fueled by the respect of the efforts of sponsors.

I think Children of the next generation should be given a chance to either make their important decisions at some certain point in their young lives.
A lot of us are in Careers or Studying courses because they were either persuaded to study by sponsors and parents.

The fear of not being liked by the "cool kids" is very powerful.

It's a form of the fear of death.

Many of us are living our whole lives trying to be liked by people of higher status in our family work or ministry contexts.

We must contain this fear or risk not pleasing God.
