Wrote a full Bash script to upgrade & re-register the Aztec Sequencer (v2.1.2) โ interactive, auto-fund, safe backups, validator setup & RPC checks.

@clairekart Dreamt Aztec absorbed Binance.
Woke up โ blob still syncing on testnet.
One day, privacy will be the default.
Thank you Zak, Claire, Koen, Robert, David and all the amazing folks at Aztec โ
youโre literally building the future, block by block. ๐ ๏ธ
@realRoberto38@clairekart Hey @clairekart , a coffee and a croissant is half the battle won already! ๐ Maybe @realRoberto38 will finally reveal the top-secret requirements. Good luck cracking that privacy mystery! ๐
@Koenmtb1 A few days ago on the Ethereum Magicians forum, @Koenmtb1 highlighted why relying on AWS for blob storage breaks decentralization.
Todayโs events speak for themselves.
Love how clearly you saw this coming. Vision and consistency ๐
Now that there's a lot of talk about last nights AWS outage, I hope we get more focus on ACTUAL decentralisation.
We need to force validators (especially the big ones) to not run in big cloud. The risks of a network centralising with one provider, location and internet backbone is too big to ignore!
Networks with centralised validators or sequencers went down, look at @base .
There are soo many good options for hosting infrastructure all over the world, and almost all of them are cheaper than platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure etc...
Spreading out the blockchain infrastructure helps with
- Network liveliness
- Censorship
- Regulatory risk
One way many blockchains have forced their validator set to decentralise is to use foundation delegations to force them to (removing it if they don't).
But in an ideal world we need the operators who run the critical infrastructure to care enough themselves to do so.
At @aztecnetwork we're taking the approach of making as easy as possible to run a sequencer at home! Doing so follows a system @ethereum set out years ago, and gives end-users the control back over decentralisation efforts!
