FIRST LOOK: Asiana Aircraft Gets Korean Air’s New Livery Ahead of Merger

With 105 days to go before the planned launch of the integrated Korean Air, an Asiana Airlines Airbus A321-200 has been spotted wearing Korean Air’s new livery — while still retaining the Asiana logo and name.

According to industry reports, this is the first confirmed Asiana aircraft to receive Korean Air’s new exterior design, marking a visible start to the two airlines’ brand integration ahead of their planned December 2026 merger.

The A321-200, primarily used on short-haul routes, is scheduled to enter domestic service from September 9.

The development follows the final merger approvals by both airlines in August. Under the current timetable, the integrated Korean Air is planned to emerge on December 17, 2026, with Asiana Airlines to be dissolved as a separate legal entity following the merger registration.

🛫 67 Asiana aircraft are expected to be repainted progressively, with the work coordinated around maintenance schedules and flight operations. This means passengers will see a mix of Asiana and Korean Air liveries for some time during the transition.

The first hybrid-looking A321 is therefore more than just a new paint job — it is an early, highly visible sign that the Korean Air–Asiana integration is moving from planning into physical aircraft transformation.
