Your conclusion:
God's promise > Man fails > God withdraws His promise.

@realsedepicante @ClassicalTheis You're arguing the mechanism is different. I agree. But the principle is the same. Why would God's promise to preserve His Church be more fragile than His promise to David?

@realsedepicante @ClassicalTheis I was also trapped by that false dilemma. But it isn't just, "Either God doesn't exist or the pope doesn't exist."
God didn't revoke His covenant with David because of Manasseh. His promises weren't made void by an evil king. God remained faithful despite the failings of men.

@kalezelden Well he who operates unconsciously already is a conned man. From their perspective there is no conning of their audience. This means optically they can display to their viewers authentic righteousness which passes people’s BS radar. In contrast to say, politicians, it feels true.
