108.2a talks about what a card can be, including non traditional magic cards.

314.1 specifically calls out Scheme as a card type and that they are non traditional cards that start in the command zone.

@callahanishere @Pharmacistjudge @BorosBaldy @IBlameMax We have done work, but there’s still a ton to be done. The MTRA/IPGA are not complete fixes and I’m unconvinced that we (as in the world, humanity) have the answers to the uniquely multiplayer problems.

That’s not to say it shouldn’t be tackled, but there is still a lot to do.

They’re called replacement effects because they replace the event that’s happening- instead of Progenitus going to the GY, it gets shuffled in. It never hits the GY.
