@zencephalon @FANswitchboard @visakanv DM’d you!

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

Hey @visakanv could you point me to any FANs that are into game based learning, human factors, or human computer interaction?

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@mykola This helps frame things so much! I knew there was something that I wasn’t getting and this was the missing piece. Keep coming in clutch homie!

This is one of those small things that should be mind blowing but can feel small. We live in the future guys, it’s super cool!

Genuine customer reaction while testing in-store AR navigation 😂😍

@ralley_kat And in turn have now informed me

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@visakanv Do you believe that the pain is required to gain that understanding?

I dream of securing the wisdom of failure without the intense pain that is found in failure.

Building up resistance to that pain is good, but I just feel like there’s got to be a better way.

I no longer feel a compulsion to make sure that people "get it". it's not my job. I was not put on this earth to be captain save-a-hoe. I let people come to me if they want, it's opt-in now. took me many years to come to a sense of peace about this 🤗 feels good now

But this is honestly how I try to do the friend thing, too
Which also gets awkward

THIS IS GOING VIRAL SO I WANTED TO SHARE IT HERE TOO:

A bit from my past:

My first job after getting my PhD was working as a therapist for people from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Almost all of them were diagnosed with depression, GAD, bipolar, or BPD. Most were highly medicated— some to a point that still sticks with me years later.

As I got to know their background and lives 3 things were very clear:

1. A vast majority had been emotionally neglected, emotionally abused, or physically abused as children.

2. A vast majority had experienced domestic violence or were currently living in it.

3. Basic needs were never met. Life was an hour by hour struggle. Treatment was an attempt to allow them to get to work in most cases. To just continue to surviving.

It was the start of me questioning the field I had been trained in. One that diagnoses people with disorders without taking a look at the whole picture. It began my path of holistic understanding.

A person cannot be well when one unexpected bill will have them fall behind on rent. When they lay their head on a pillow and all they can think about is expenses piling up. When a bill at the grocery store is almost double what they paid last year when their income has stayed the same.

An entire family unit deeply struggles within survival mode. When a job is lost. When daycare needs to be paid, but so does the light bill— what do you choose? When parents can’t even think about the emotional needs of their children because they have to figure out where their next meal is going to come from.

In 1942, 10 years before the diagnostic manual of mental illness was released Maslow knew what was once just common sense: we have a hierarchy of needs.

At the bottom are basic needs food and shelter. Then safety (resources, security). Then belonging (connection, friendship, intimacy.) Without three things we *will* be sick, period.

I get pushback for questioning the status quo. And I’ll continue to do it. The status quo is keeping people sick. It denies their experience. And it says we should bandage people’s symptoms so they can return to the environment that made them sick.

May we wake up, heal ourselves, and build conscious communities to help each other.

Retweet if you feel this is true in your body 🙏

The spirit of this quote has dramatically improved my life since implementing it. Definitely not a cure all, but it gets pretty good mileage.

“If you think of being organized as a means of showing respect or caring for the other person, rather than a chore, this may help you to feel more motivated.”

I think I’m all in on sex plane.

I’ve noticed when searching my phone and typing ‘Twitter’ it still pulls up ‘X’. Interested to see when/if it is phased out.

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@visakanv Lollll, I cited that shit too!

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

Last night I quoted INTROSPECT in a grad school post. Figured you’d probably get a kick out of that @visakanv 🤪

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@iamnotlinda @Imani_Barbarin That makes sense! Thank you for helping clarify that for me! 😊

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@savagehales @Imani_Barbarin Gooootcha, rewatching after reading your reply helped me understand more, thank you!

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

@visakanv Truly my first foray into cold calling internet strangers. try 100 things eh?

[Seth Cloe @SethCloebot]

Great question, there in lies the miscalibration. I am new to dming people you are well versed. This conversation is likely one you’ve had multiple times. But here’s how I may respond:

“Hey thank you for reaching out! That’s very kind of you to say that, I’m glad you’re finding it useful!”
