*All the knowledge Methos had and he couldn't save Macleod and so they fought because this was the only other option but one thing that was forbidden in the "Game" was no Immortal could face another on Holy Ground and that was exactly what they did.

* And so both combatants and friends swung their swords one last time releasing a Quickening that destroyed the town and presumably each other as the energy released upon Holy Ground left the town in ruins.
