They can not and here is why:
a. Liverpool are in a financially strong position due to their impressive revenue streams. Last season alone, the club generated nearly £700 million from broadcasting, Champions League progression, commercial partnerships, and matchday income. In addition to strong revenue, Liverpool reported a £48 million profit in their most recent financial year. This profitability gives them a buffer under PSR guidelines, which allow for a maximum loss of £105 million over three seasons, provided certain conditions are met. Liverpool, like many other top clubs, utilize amortisation to spread the cost of transfers across the length of a player’s contract. For instance, a £100 million player signed on a five-year deal only counts as a £20 million expense per year under PSR rules. This significantly reduces the immediate financial hit in the club's accounts. It allows Liverpool to commit to large fees without those amounts fully impacting a single financial year, keeping them compliant with spending regulations. The club has already begun offloading players like Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher, generating about £54 million, and they are reportedly open to selling Darwin Núñez, Harvey Elliott, and possibly Luis Díaz, with total potential earnings of over £150 million. These sales offset the spending and help balance the books.
