@mitch_santini Just look up the Cubs 2 best stretches last year. Do the math and see what their winning percentage was when they were NOT at their best.
It’s a much different picture than this year.
That’s the point
Baseball is situational. You can’t say “Seiya flew out, so Nico woulda scored.”
There are so many factors that would have been different
-The pitcher would have approached the situation differently
-Seiya’s mindset for his at bat would have changed
-they may have even intentionally walked Seiya
Too many unknowns to assume
If you think Craig Counsell should have bunted with Bregman in the 9th last night, you might want to remind yourself of what Seiya’s numbers are this year with a runner on 3rd less than 2 outs
The player’s didn’t deserve the fans to put in the effort they did in the 9th, but these INCREDIBLE fans did it anyway.
Bregman
Seiya
Happ
You should be ashamed
If you are in that Cubs clubhouse, how do you even begin to muster up hope for the rest of this season?
12-1 loss to make it 10 in a row has to be the most deflating feeling for a team that was in 1st place last week.
PS: as a fan, I’m asking myself the same question
